Kuwait City, 18th November 2020: 130 KD compulsory insurance per year by end of next year, iiQ8 Health insurance hospital by the end of next year; 130 KD compulsory insurance per year "Dhaman" hospitals under the Health Insurance Hospitals Company will be fully functional by the end of next year. The new compulsory health insurance fee of 130 dinars will apply to all residents once these hospitals are operational, local daily Al Qabas reported. According to report, the insurance fee will cover medical expenses, including but not limited to - the costs of check-up, x-rays, laboratory tests, outpatient clinics, treatment, operations, hospitalization, and other services at this hospital. Kuwait City, 18th November 2020: Domestic workers to arrive in batches, online platform to register expats A decisive meeting will be held in the coming days to decide the date for the return of direct flights from 34 banned countries, with the aim to facilitate the return of domestic workers from the countries, Al Rai daily reported. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is making preparations to set up various procedures to receive returning travelers for completion in accordance with the requirements set by the health authorities. The law will go in effect at the start of next year. (01-01-2021). Expats over the age of 60 with high school degrees and below will not be allowed to renew their work visa. Kuwait City, 11th November, 2020: Expats can enter Kuwait as long as their residence is valid General Administration of Residency Affairs confirmed that expats who have valid residence have the right to enter Kuwait as per the health requirements laid down by the Ministry of Interior. The General Residency affairs department refuted the rumors which are going around that those expats who are outside Kuwait if they do not enter by 31st Dec will not be allowed to enter is totally false. There is nothing new in the law regarding absence in the country. The government sources confirmed its ambitious plan aimed to deport 70% of expat workers from Kuwait. The sources reaffirmed the government’s intention to end 160,000 jobs in the private sector and deport marginal laborers and illiterate expats. Kuwait City, 21st October 2020: Demographic Imbalance Bill unanimously approved, iiQ8, Kuwait News A special session immediately followed the opening, during which the Assembly discussed several bills and voted on the proposals to address the lopsided demographic issue and support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) affected by the coronavirus crisis in their second reading. The Assembly unanimously approved the Demographic Imbalance Bill as all 53 MPs present at the session voted in favor. The bill mandates the government to specify the maximum number of expatriates during the first year of implementation and regularly submit reports in this regard to the Assembly. Kuwait City, 6th October 2020: Home Delivery Of Civil ID Cards For 650 Fils The Audit Bureau has approved the request of the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) to launch home delivery service of civil ID cards on request, the decision has been approved and a local company has been awarded a contract to deliver. The sources informed that the Bureau approved the Civil Information Authority’s request at the end of August for 650 fils for each Civil ID card delivery for a period of one year, provided that the implementation will take place within 3 months. Kuwait City, 29th September, 2020: Kuwait Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad passed away at 91, the Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan, Sheikh Ali Al Jarrah Al Sabah, announced on Kuwait TV today. Sheikh Sabah ruled Kuwait since 2006 and steered its foreign policy for more than 50 years. His designated successor is his brother, Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah. "With the utmost sadness and grief for the Kuwaiti people, the Islamic and Arab world and people of friendly nations, the Emiri Diwan mourns the death of Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, the emir of Kuwait," his office said. The Emir was admitted to hospital on July 18 for medical checks and then, a day later, underwent a successful surgery. On July 23, the Emir was flown to the United States to complete his medical treatment.
