అశ్వత్థామ:
ద్రోణాచార్యుని కుమారుడు. కురుక్షేత్ర యుద్ధం తరువాత కౌరవ పక్షాన మిగిలిన అతి కొద్దిమందిలో ఇతనొకడు. నిద్రిస్తున్న ఉపపాండవులను గొంతుకలు కోసి చంఫాడు. ఆ కారణంగా, ఒళ్ళంతా వ్రణాలతో చావు లేకుండా చిరంజీవిగా జీవించమని శ్రీకృష్ణూడు అతన్ని శపించాడు.
Ashwatthama:

అశ్వత్థామా బలిర్వ్యాసో హనుమాంశ్చ విభీషణః ।
కృపః పరశురామశ్చ సప్త ఏతైః చిరంజీవినః ॥
సప్తైతాన్ సంస్మరేన్నిత్యం మార్కండేయమథాష్టమం ।
జీవేద్వర్షశ్శతమ్ సొపి సర్వవ్యాధి వివర్జిత ॥
పరశురాముడు:
విష్ణుమూర్తి అవతారం. జమదగ్ని కొడుకు. తండ్రి ఆజ్ఞ మేరకు తల్లిని చంపి మళ్ళీ ఆమెను బతికించమని వరంగా కోరుకున్నవాడు. తన తండ్రిని క్షత్రియుడైన కార్తవీర్యార్జునుడు వధించినందుకు ప్రతిగా యావత్తు క్షత్రియ జాతిపై 21 మార్లు దండెత్తి వారిని వధించాడు.
Parasurama:

హనుమంతుడు:

ముల్లోకాలనూ జయించిన దానవ చక్రవర్తి. ప్రహ్లాదుని మనుమడు. విరోచనుని కుమారుడు. పౌరాణిక గాథల్లో మహా దాతలుగా ప్రసిద్ధికెక్కిన ముగ్గురు – బలి, శిబి, ధధీచి – లలో ఒకడు. వామనావతారంలో వచ్చిన విష్ణుమూర్తి మూడడుగుల నేలను అతనినుండి దానంగా పొంది, రెండు అడుగులతో యావద్విశ్వాన్నీ ఆక్రమించి, మూడో అడుగు ఎక్కడ పెట్టమని అడగ్గా, తన తలను చూపించాడు. త్రివిక్రముడైన వామనుడు అతన్ని పాతళానికి తొక్కేసాడు.
Bali:

రావణాసురుని తమ్ముడు. అపహరించి తెచ్చిన సీతను తిరిగి రామునికి అప్పగించమని అన్నకు సలహా ఇచ్చాడు. ఆ తరువాత అన్నను వీడి, రాముని వద్ద శరణు పొందాడు. అతను చిరంజీవి కాదుగానీ దాదాపుగా చిరంజీవి. కల్పాంతము వరకూ చిరంజీవిగా ఉండే వరం పొందాడు.
Vibheeshanudu:
Ravanasura’s younger brother. He advised Anna to hand over the abducted Sita back to Rama. After that he left Anna and took refuge with Rama. He is not immortal but almost immortal. He got the boon of eternal life till Kalpanth.

ఈ ఏడుగురు చిరంజీవులని పురాణాలు చెపుతున్నాయి. ఈ ఏడుగురితో పాటు మరొక చిరంజీవి యైన మార్కండేయుని కూడా కలిపి అష్ట చిరంజీవులని కూడా అంటారు. మార్కండేయుడు శివుని అనుగ్రహాన చిరంజీవి అయ్యాడు.
