The source further mentioned that fines may be imposed on individuals who fail to collect their cards promptly, considering the significant accumulation of around 200,000 ready cards within the system. The Public Authority for Civil Information activated a plan to accelerate the issuance of civil ID cards to residents. The crisis of issuance of Civil ID cards started after the Covid pandemic where about 200,000 uncollected cards remain inside the machine, which resulting in a backlog. The First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and acting Minister of Defense, Sheikh Talal Al Khalid, issued Ministerial Decision No. 410 of 2023, amending several provisions of Resolution No. 81 of 1976 related to the executive regulations of the traffic law and its amendments.
