Kuwait City, 21st December 2020: No renewal of work permits from 1st to 11th January, 2021, iiQ8 The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has decided to stop renewing work permits from January 1-11, 2021 in order to work on the new automated system, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources. They explained that companies are required to renew work permits that will expire during the period from January 1 to January 12, as the authority will completely stop the system. However, it will launch a new automated system “Easiest” on January 12, 2021. The numbers of work files currently registered with PAM will change according to the developed automated system. Employers will be able to inquire about new file numbers through the “Easiest” portal. The employers’ applications will be received again on January 17. Kuwait City, 13th December 2020: Kuwait authorizes emergency use of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine Kuwait Ministry of Health authorized Sunday the emergency use of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against Covid-19, a ministry official announced. A joint committee of the medicine registration and supervision department and the public ehalth department for the evaluation and registration of vaccines, has approved emergency use of the vaccine, Dr. Abdullah Al-Bader, Assistant Undersecretary for Pharmaceutical and Food Supervision, said in a statement. He said the committee's decision followed a thorough review of the safety and quality specifications of the vaccine. The committee, said Al-Bader, also reviewed results of clinical trials. Al-Bader emphasized that MoH would closely follow the safety of the vaccine following its use to ensure wellbeing of the public. Those also affected by the decision are foreign wives of Kuwaiti citizens; children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis; non-Kuwaiti mothers whose children are citizens, and expats’ family members. A source told Al Rai the reason expats will require yearly renewal for residency permits is due to the repercussions COVID-19 has had on many businesses. Official sources said the National Aviation Services Company (NAS) is all set to start working the platform at 3:00pm on Monday, as the first flight returning domestic workers from India will be launched on the 14th of this month. They mentioned that the platform is smooth in dealing with five steps, through which the sponsor registers the name of the work, civil ID number, and determines the day and country from which the domestic worker is coming, then pays the fees.
