Kuwait City, 22nd November 2020: Phased return of domestics starts from 10th December, iiQ8 During an extraordinary meeting held Thursday, the Council of Ministers launched the first phase for the domestic workers who are stranded overseas to return to the country – estimated to be 80,000 workers – including about 10,000 holding valid residence permits. The Minister of Health, Sheikh Dr Bassel Al- Sabah has instructed the concerned authorities to complete the legal aspects and detailed procedures necessary to implement the plan for the return of the domestic workers. The sources confirmed that the first return trips are expected to be on December 10. Kuwait City, 22nd November 2020: Return of Domestic Workers travel cost finalized to 350 KD, iiQ8 Ticket pricing for domestic workers returning from India, SriLanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Philippines The pricing of tickets for flights coming into Kuwait from 5 main destinations India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and the Philippines have been fixed. The meetings held between Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the management of Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways concluded that the prices of the tickets, institutional quarantine, meals and PCR examination will be fixed to KD 350 per person in order to reduce the cost of Kuwaiti Citizens who want their domestic workers to return. The new compulsory health insurance fee of 130 dinars will apply to all residents once these hospitals are operational, local daily Al Qabas reported. According to report, the insurance fee will cover medical expenses, including but not limited to - the costs of check-up, x-rays, laboratory tests, outpatient clinics, treatment, operations, hospitalization, and other services at this hospital. Kuwait City, 18th November 2020: Domestic workers to arrive in batches, online platform to register expats A decisive meeting will be held in the coming days to decide the date for the return of direct flights from 34 banned countries, with the aim to facilitate the return of domestic workers from the countries, Al Rai daily reported. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is making preparations to set up various procedures to receive returning travelers for completion in accordance with the requirements set by the health authorities. Among the details mentioned in the plan is a platform to register expats wishing to return to Kuwait, and allowing for the return of domestic workers in batches.
