New registration service for a newborn birth launched Kuwait City, 29th August, 2020: The General Administration of Security Relations and Information at the Ministry of Interior stated that, within the framework of the continuous efforts made by the Ministry of Interior to develop services and facilitate the citizens and work on their comfort and complete their transactions easily and conveniently, the General Administration of Nationality and Travel Documents has added a new service for registering newborns for those under the age of three months in all identity centers in the six governorates. Kuwait delays security campaigns to arrest 120,000 expats 🇰🇼 Campaign was postponed due to overcrowding in Central Prison and deportation centre Kuwaiti authorities’ planned extensive security campaign to arrest more than 120,000 expatriates who are in violation of the residency law has been postponed due to overcrowding in the Central Prison and deportation centre, the Al Jarida newspaper quoted an informed security source at the Residency Affairs General Department in the Interior Ministry as saying. The campaign was seen as a step to fix the demographic imbalance by deporting illegals, Al Jarida reported. Taking into account the difficulties faced by expatriates during the coronavirus crisis, the Government offered an amnesty period for illegals to leave the country in April without paying fines. Draft Law on Demographics of Expats , iiQ8, Kuwait Demographics Kuwait City, 21st August, 2020 : The Human Resources Development Committee completed the proposed draft of the Demographic Organization and Management Law which will be reviewed by the Ministry of Justice as penalties are stipulated in the law. The draft law will have to be approved by the Council of Ministers within 6 months from which the law will come into force which includes a limitation cap of expat workers. The draft stipulated that it needs to establish a National Committee for Organizing and Managing the Demographics which will be headed by ministers and representatives from various agencies. The committee is responsible for the following: Preparing a study on the causes of the imbalance in population structure and setting a general policy for organizing the population structure in a way that serves the objectives of the state’s general development plan.
