India extends ban on international flights till August 31, iiQ8 India on Friday extended the ban on international commercial passenger flights till August 31. But the restriction shall not apply to international cargo operations and flights specifically approved by aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). “The government has decided to extend the suspension on the Scheduled International Commercial Passenger Services to/from India up to 2359 hours IST of 31st August,” the statement read. Earlier this month, in the wake of a surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, the civil aviation ministry had extended the ban on international flights till July 31. Prior to that, the earlier order had said the ban would be in place till July 15. The ban on international flights was extended even as capacity on domestic routes has been hiked to 45% from the earlier 33%. Expats from 7 banned countries can enter Kuwait if they have stayed in other permitted country for 14 days The Directorate General of Civil Aviation stated that residents from the seven declared countries (Bangladesh, the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iran, Nepal) is not related to the citizenship of those countries, but rather to being in those countries in last 14 days. The sources affirmed that those who hold the nationality of those 7 countries, if they come from other countries from which it is permitted to fly and whose residents are allowed to enter Kuwait, can enter Kuwait naturally without any obstacles. The Director-General for Civil Aviation issued a circular saying that passengers have all rights to get a full refund for bookings cancelled due to the closure of Kuwait International Airport as part of the lockdown from 14th March till 31st July 2020. The circular was issued to all airlines, travel and tourism agencies operating from Kuwait. In a circular, GDCA said that the traveller has the right to request a refund of their purchases including travel tickets, hotel reservations and other tourist services that were cancelled from 14th March to 31st July regardless of the condition of the reservation, whether refundable or non-refundable, without any deduction.
