Kuwait City, 13th December 2020: Kuwait authorizes emergency use of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine Kuwait Ministry of Health authorized Sunday the emergency use of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against Covid-19, a ministry official announced. A joint committee of the medicine registration and supervision department and the public ehalth department for the evaluation and registration of vaccines, has approved emergency use of the vaccine, Dr. Abdullah Al-Bader, Assistant Undersecretary for Pharmaceutical and Food Supervision, said in a statement. He said the committee's decision followed a thorough review of the safety and quality specifications of the vaccine. The committee, said Al-Bader, also reviewed results of clinical trials. Al-Bader emphasized that MoH would closely follow the safety of the vaccine following its use to ensure wellbeing of the public. Kuwait City, 13th December 2020: Kuwait to open one way direct flight from Kuwait to Egypt The Directorate General of Civil Aviation revealed the approval of the request of EgyptAir, KuwaitAirways and Jazeera Airways to transport passengers from Kuwait to Cairo directly. EgyptAir had submitted a request to transport its citizens from Kuwait to Egypt. Kuwait City, 10th December 2020: Only 1 year residency for for Expats, iiQ8, MOI Kuwait Kuwait to issue one-year residency permits for expats Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announced it will start issuing one-year only residency permits for expats, instead of two years or more, Al Rai reported. Those also affected by the decision are foreign wives of Kuwaiti citizens; children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis; non-Kuwaiti mothers whose children are citizens, and expats’ family members. A source told Al Rai the reason expats will require yearly renewal for residency permits is due to the repercussions COVID-19 has had on many businesses. In addition, the source pointed out that granting residency permits to expats for more than a year requires medical examinations, review of security restrictions, amongst other technical details. Sources said the decision was made for humanitarian reasons, as a large number of expats, particularly women, are in need of article 18 residencies with which they entered the country for the first time. Kuwait City, 8th December 2020: All set for return of domestic workers from 14th December, iiQ8, Returning to Kuwait The electronic platform “in safety” began work on Monday to officially organize procedures for the return of domestic workers to Kuwait, reports Al-Anba daily. Official sources said the National Aviation Services Company (NAS) is all set to start working the platform at 3:00pm on Monday, as the first flight returning domestic workers from India will be launched on the 14th of this month. They mentioned that the platform is smooth in dealing with five steps, through which the sponsor registers the name of the work, civil ID number, and determines the day and country from which the domestic worker is coming, then pays the fees. The same sources said the Council of Ministers has set a fee of 270 dinars, but the airfare varies from one country to another, as it is 110 dinars from India, 145 dinars from Sri Lanka Bangladesh and Nepal, and 220 dinars from …

Kuwait City, 6th December 2020: Kuwait election results: Big changes, all-male new parliament No women win seats; many new faces; voter turnout of 60% higher than expected The election for Kuwait’s National Assembly (parliament) resulted in an all-male parliament and several previous MP losing their seats, signalling a change in direction. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, voter turnout was higher than expected, at 60 per cent. While strict health guidelines were put in place, voters complained of long lines and crowded polling stations. This is the first time that Kuwait has held parliamentary elections since 2016, excluding the 2019 by-elections that took place in only two districts to replace two MPs who were removed from office. Embassy of India in Kuwait has been issuing Travel Documents including Emergency Certificates (EC) for those registered with the Embassy and have submitted their completed application forms. The Embassy is regularly contacting them through telephone calls, whatsapp messages and emails to distribute their printed travel documents. Those who are prepared to avail the concessions offered by the Government of State of Kuwait though its notification of November 24 and who do not possess valid travel documents, may contact the Embassy urgently and apply for ECs at the special EC counter at the Embassy.
