Those also affected by the decision are foreign wives of Kuwaiti citizens; children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis; non-Kuwaiti mothers whose children are citizens, and expats’ family members. A source told Al Rai the reason expats will require yearly renewal for residency permits is due to the repercussions COVID-19 has had on many businesses. Kuwait City, 8th December 2020: All set for return of domestic workers from 14th December, iiQ8, Returning to Kuwait The electronic platform “in safety” began work on Monday to officially organize procedures for the return of domestic workers to Kuwait, reports Al-Anba daily. Official sources said the National Aviation Services Company (NAS) is all set to start working the platform at 3:00pm on Monday, as the first flight returning domestic workers from India will be launched on the 14th of this month. They mentioned that the platform is smooth in dealing with five steps, through which the sponsor registers the name of the work, civil ID number, and determines the day and country from which the domestic worker is coming, then pays the fees. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, voter turnout was higher than expected, at 60 per cent. While strict health guidelines were put in place, voters complained of long lines and crowded polling stations. Embassy of India in Kuwait has been issuing Travel Documents including Emergency Certificates (EC) for those registered with the Embassy and have submitted their completed application forms. The Embassy is regularly contacting them through telephone calls, whatsapp messages and emails to distribute their printed travel documents. Those who are prepared to avail the concessions offered by the Government of State of Kuwait though its notification of November 24 and who do not possess valid travel documents, may contact the Embassy urgently and apply for ECs at the special EC counter at the Embassy.
