Kuwait City, 22nd May 2023: Kuwait updates driving license rules   Driving license for expats to be valid for one year In a significant shift in policy, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has revamped rules regarding the issuance of driving licenses. The First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and acting Minister of Defense, Sheikh Talal Al Khalid, issued Ministerial Decision No. 410 of 2023, amending several provisions of Resolution No. 81 of 1976 related to the executive regulations of the traffic law and its amendments. Kuwait City, 11th May 2023: No expat exempted from driving license rule in Kuwait   No expat in Kuwait will be exempted from the recently issued decision restricting the renewal of driving licenses to a one-year period. However, only sons and spouses of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis and Article 20 visa holders are still eligible for a three-year driving license. According to a security source, the one-year renewal policy applies as long as the expat’s job position remains the same and extends to driving licenses issued before 2013.
