Kuwait to reopen mosques in some areas as of Wednesday Sunday, June 7, 2020 The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has given the green light to mosques, in some areas, to reopen as of Wednesday after almost three months of closure due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. In a press statement, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Fahad Al-Afasi said that mosques in the model residential areas, sparselypopulated areas, will receive worshipers for the five daily prayers starting of noon prayer of Wednesday, June 10. He, however, noted that the weekly Friday noon sermon and prayer will be performed only at the Grand Mosque in Kuwait City and will be broadcast on the official Kuwait TV. Only the mosque's preacher and staff will be allowed to attend this prayer, the minister said. COVID-19 drug Avigan will be received next week from Japan to Kuwait Saturday 6th June, 2020 : The first shipment of Japanese medicine (Avigan) will arrive in the country next week, after its positive results in clinical trials conducted by many countries to treat coronavirus, said Kuwait's Health Ministry Friday. In a statement to KUNA, the Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Medicines and Medical Equipment Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Bader, affirmed that the first shipment of the drug comes within the emergency response and humanitarian purposes and does not carry a commercial value from the Japanese government. The medicine's use will be in accordance with the guidelines prepared by Japan and according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the regulations followed in Kuwait, Al-Bader added.
