Kuwait City, 4th February 2021: Kuwait shut Malls, Restaurants from 8 PM to 5 AM, iiQ8 Commercial malls, restaurants to shut from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM. The Council of Ministers is expected to impose stringent measures in their press briefing shortly, stating starting next week, clubs and salons are to completely remain shut, while commercial malls and restaurants are required to remain shut from 8pm to 5 am, Al-Qabas daily reported, quoting sources. This is a measure against the rising coronavirus cases, and failure of the public to adhere to health regulations. Kuwait City, 24th January 2021: Kuwait to launch strict campaign against visa violators, iiQ8 Deadline to amend residency permits will end on Jan 31 There are over 100,000 visa violators, yet since the grace period began in March only 5,000 people took advantage of the grace period and amended their status. Visa violators: Visa violations in Kuwait have hit a new record, with around 180,000 expats in the country being without valid residency permits, Al Rai reported. A 38 per cent spike occurred since August where the total number of visa violators was around 130,000. Grace period: The Ministry of Interior initiated its first grace period at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March and was supposed to end in May.
