Is Sadhguru really as bad as some people have portrayed him?
Is Sadhguru really as bad as some people have portrayed him?

I’ll tell you about my experience. A little more than four years ago, I was working at a good company with a decent salary. One fine day, a colleague of mine approaches me and informs me of a Sadhguru session with Kiran Mazumdar. He said I’d enjoy the session and that I should go. I figured why not, since he was a great colleague who also helped me a lot.
I went to the programme. I was sitting so far away from the stage that I couldn’t see anyone on stage. I was only listening to them speak the entire time. I wasn’t paying attention, but the bits and pieces I heard seemed reasonable; nothing out of the ordinary for my senses.
This was my first encounter with Sadhguru. After that, I forgot about him.

A few months after that event, the work environment began to become stressful, and my performance began to suffer. I was completely stressed and began to experience a lot of anxiety as a result of my fear of losing my job. I was still only 22 years old, so losing a job wasn’t a big deal, but I couldn’t handle all the stress. I became depressed. I began to consume alcohol in greater quantities than usual. As an escape, I began smoking up every weekend.
For the next six months, I drank heavily and smoked heavily, to the point where I decided to quit my job. I even resigned as a result of that compulsion. I thought it was a brave decision, but in retrospect, I was just looking for a way out.
I couldn’t stand up to the pressure. The stress was too much for me. I couldn’t keep my thoughts and mind under control. Basically, I couldn’t control myself. I was completely out of whack, completely unstable.

My dear mother is spiritually inclined. On YouTube, she was watching a variety of spiritual talks and shows. She informed me that since I am not working, I should consider doing the inner engineering sessions.
That was my second encounter with Sadhguru. I completed the programme and began practicing the meditation technique. I didn’t have any extraordinary experiences, but I also didn’t stop practicing. I carried on.
I discovered that there are other advanced meditation programmes available, so I went through nearly all of them.
Despite having completed almost all of the programmes, I did not have the same level of experience as the majority of their followers and devotees. I’ve always been dedicated and committed to whatever I do since I was a child. So, naturally, I was practicing all of the meditation and yoga that I had learned with zeal.

I’m aware of all the negativity that surrounds Sadhguru, but I’m not sure if it’s true or not. But today, I’m back at work, working and growing every day. I’m not as stressed as I used to be. I don’t have any panic attacks, and I’m not depressed about anything. I don’t feel the need to drink or smoke either.
I go through a lot of stressful situations at work and at home, but I never seem to lose my cool. I seem to be able to get through any situation with ease. To be honest, I reached to a point where no matter what happens I don’t mind at all.
I’m not sure if it’s because of Sadhguru or his meditation and yoga techniques, or if this was my natural progression in life, but I still maintain my meditation practices to this day.
