Kuwait driving licence issuance and renewal Online 

The General Traffic Department will be using advanced electronic devices to issue and renew driving licences of Kuwaitis online in all the six governorates, reports Al-Anba daily quoting Interior Ministry sources.

The same sources said a number of employees are being trained in this regard how to go about the new system and issue and renew the licences electronically. The sources pointed out the GTD in two months will embark on the project to renew and issue driving licences to Kuwaitis only. However, the expatriates are expected to be included in the project in the near future.

The sources pointed out the Interior ministry will create an electronic window to receive the transactions which will be checked by the employees and the applicant will have to collect the license from a device. Sunday, Feb 24 as a holiday or not,

as it fallsbetween Saturday, Feb 23 (weekend) and Monday, Feb 25 (an official holiday).

If such a decision is taken, the holidays will be for five days from Friday, Feb 22 to Tuesday, Feb 26.

New rules set for visit visa KD 500 salary must

New Visit Visa Rules applied in Kuwait Visa

The interior ministry’s residency affairs directorate announced new regulations for issuing various types of visit visas.As per the new regulations, expatriates can apply for visit visas for their parents provided their monthly salaries are not less than KD 500. The concerned authorities have the right to determine the duration of their visit – either family visa for a duration of 30 days or tourist visa for a duration of 90 days – based on the sponsors’ profession and circumstances, and the purpose of the visit.Regarding visa for siblings, expatriates can apply for family visit visa for them for a duration of only 30 days. There is no extension of duration for all types of visit visas.

Indian Embassy published revised minimum wage requirement for Indian workers  

Indian Embassy in Kuwait revised the minimum wage requirement for Indian workers to be recruited to Kuwait. The updated minimum wage is published on the Embassy website, which will be in effect from January 2019. The minim wage for Indian workers was last revised in January, 2016. "Considering the rise in cost of living in Kuwait since the last revision and the prevailing market rates of wages for both domestic and private sector workers, it has been decided to revise the minimum structure for various job categories of Indian workers in Kuwait with immediate effect," embassy said on its website.

According to the revised list, the minimum wages for unskilled helpers, cleaner and labours are increased to 100 KD. Earlier it was 85 KD. Minimum salary for skilled workers in technical, mechanical and construction field varies from 120 to 150 KD whereas only minor change …

Credit cards, ATM cards without chip will stop working after December 31 - India - RBI As per the new directive issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), any credit or debit card with magnetic stripe will not be functional in ATMs across India starting from January 1st 2019. The RBI directive had asked the banks in the country to ensure that they completely migrate to EMV chip and PIN based credit and debit cards by December 31, 2018. According to an RBI circular, all existing bank cards should be Europay Mastercard Visa (EMV) chip- and pin-based from January 1. The magnetic stripe cards will not be valid after December 31. The remaining magnetic stripe cards are those that were issued prior to September 2015. As part of its measures to beef up security and mitigate risks, the RBI made it mandatory for banks to issue only EMV chip- and pin-based debit and credit cards (domestic and international) from September 1, 2015. Kuwait Manpower authority - 3 year ban on transfer of residence in Kuwait

Manpower authority is planning to issue decision of banning visa transfers of expats hired from abroad to work in private sector to another company before 3 years. 

This step will enable Kuwait authorities considerably to fight visa trading and human trafficking and reduce marginal labor. At present visa transfers are done after one year from entry or by paying KD 300 fee for six month from entry date.
