New Visit Visa Rules applied in Kuwait Visa

The interior ministry’s residency affairs directorate announced new regulations for issuing various types of visit visas.As per the new regulations, expatriates can apply for visit visas for their parents provided their monthly salaries are not less than KD 500. The concerned authorities have the right to determine the duration of their visit – either family visa for a duration of 30 days or tourist visa for a duration of 90 days – based on the sponsors’ profession and circumstances, and the purpose of the visit.Regarding visa for siblings, expatriates can apply for family visit visa for them for a duration of only 30 days. There is no extension of duration for all types of visit visas.

Indian Embassy published revised minimum wage requirement for Indian workers

Indian Embassy in Kuwait revised the minimum wage requirement for Indian workers to be recruited to Kuwait. The updated minimum wage is published on the Embassy website, which will be in effect from January 2019. The minim wage for Indian workers was last revised in January, 2016. "Considering the rise in cost of living in Kuwait since the last revision and the prevailing market rates of wages for both domestic and private sector workers, it has been decided to revise the minimum structure for various job categories of Indian workers in Kuwait with immediate effect," embassy said on its website.

According to the revised list, the minimum wages for unskilled helpers, cleaner and labours are increased to 100 KD. Earlier it was 85 KD. Minimum salary for skilled workers in technical, mechanical and construction field varies from 120 to 150 KD whereas only minor change …

Qatar to start luxury cruise ship service to Kuwait

Qatar will soon start a luxury cruise ship service for passengers to Kuwait and Oman. The first-of-its-kind service in the Gulf region, is expected to start its service in two weeks, Qatar media reported.

The 145 meter-long cruise ship ‘MV Grand Ferry’ has the capacity to carry 870 persons and 670 cars. Initially, the ship will be going to ports in Oman and Kuwait, but the service can be extended to Iran, if there is enough demand for the route, media reported quoting Qatar Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti. MV Grand Ferry owner Faisal Mohamed al-Sulaiti said this new offering gives Qatar residents the opportunity to visit two neighboring GCC countries with flexibility and ease.

The Civil Service Commission declared that Tuesday, January 1st 2019 will be a public holiday on account of New Year. In a statement, CSC said that all ministries and public bodies will be closed on January 1st .

Credit cards, ATM cards without chip will stop working after December 31 - India - RBI As per the new directive issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), any credit or debit card with magnetic stripe will not be functional in ATMs across India starting from January 1st 2019. The RBI directive had asked the banks in the country to ensure that they completely migrate to EMV chip and PIN based credit and debit cards by December 31, 2018. According to an RBI circular, all existing bank cards should be Europay Mastercard Visa (EMV) chip- and pin-based from January 1. The magnetic stripe cards will not be valid after December 31. The remaining magnetic stripe cards are those that were issued prior to September 2015. As part of its measures to beef up security and mitigate risks, the RBI made it mandatory for banks to issue only EMV chip- and pin-based debit and credit cards (domestic and international) from September 1, 2015. Manpower authority is planning to issue decision of banning visa transfers of expats hired from abroad to work in private sector to another company before 3 years.

This step will enable Kuwait authorities considerably to fight visa trading and human trafficking and reduce marginal labor. At present visa transfers are done after one year from entry or by paying KD 300 fee for six month from entry date.

Question 1: What is this recent Advisory is all about?

Answer 1: As per the MEA’s advisory dated 14th Nov 2018, ECNR Passport holders travelling to 18ECR Countries on Employment Visa have to Register in eMigrate system, at least 24 hours prior to their departure. Their registration confirmation would be verified by Bureau of Immigration (BoI) at emigration counters prior to their departure. One may go through the Advisory for more details.

Question 2: Is it applicable to those who are already working in these 18 notified countries? If yes,how and when should they register?

Kuwait meteorologist says more severe weather ahead in Kuwait

Kuwait's meteorological office has warned of an increasing potential for more unstable weather starting Thursday.

The unstable weather gripping the country is likely to persist with a chance of intermittent downpours at varying intensities, meteorologist Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi told News Agency on Tuesday.

Friday's weather will see sporadic rainfall during the day with wind speedsn of 60 kilometers per hour, leading to a seven-foot rise in sea levels and low visibility in some areas, he indicated.

The capricious weather patterns are expected to continue until Monday morning, Al-Qarawi added, urging people to log on to www.met.gov.kw for all the latest weather details.
