Ministry of Interior lauded for providing maximum security for the worshipers

KUWAIT CITY : In appreciation of the freedom of religion available in Kuwait, which allows all Christian communities to practice their religious rituals easily and smoothly, churches are preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ while the Roman Catholic Church will refrain from any celebration because of the events in Lebanon, Egypt and Syria, reports Al-Rai daily.

The parishioners of the churches speaking to the daily said they will offer prayers for the stability and safety of Kuwait and prayed to God to prolong the life of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and have praised the Ministry of Interior for providing maximum security for the worshipers during Christmas.

In this context, the head of the local Greek Catholic Church in Kuwait in the Arabian Gulf Archimandrite Boutros Gharib said: “We will confine ourselves to religious prayers so that the parish of the country will feel the festivities and there will be no celebrations. “We have had long periods of mourning this year because of a number of deaths and we will not accept congratulations because of the situation in Lebanon, as well as in Egypt and in Syria. I thank everyone who tried to congratulate us. The Church does not grieve, but on the level of the people we have lost, we cannot celebrate their deaths.

“We call on God to prolong the life of His Highness the Amir, good health and wellness.” he said, and pointed out that Kuwait and “Kuwait is a pioneer in the field of religious freedom and this has existed since the time of our ancestors. “We pray for love between each other and help each other,” said the Deputy Archbishop of Public Relations, the Catholic Church’s patron in Kuwait, Raymond Eid.

“There is nothing new in the celebrations this year. We will pray for the stability and peace of Kuwait and all the countries of the region,” he added.
