Civil ID must to travel back to Kuwait after vacation    

Once the new rule regarding the removal of residency stickers from passports is implemented, expatriates need to carry their Civil ID while coming back to Kuwait after their vacation outside Kuwait. Authorities are coordinating with Foreign ministry is preparing the plan of implementing the decision in coordination with Kuwait Embassy in other countries.

According to sources, expats who lost their civil IDs in their countries, while on vacation, need to contact the Kuwait Embassy in their respective country with a lost certificate from that country. Kuwait embassy will write to the Kuwaiti interior ministry to enquire about the expat’s data and their residency, and when confirmed, they will be given an entry paper from the embassy with the required information, using which the expatriate can travel back to Kuwait.

Kuwait approved for 35-day annual leave in private companies – initial stage

Initial approval for 35-day annual leave in private companies [ sectors ] 

The National Assembly on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved in the first reading a key amendment to the labor law in the private sector to increase annual leave from 30 to 35 days.

All 45 MPs present voted for the amendment, which will become final when the Assembly holds the second and final voting on the law. The government did not object but refused to make it retroactive from 2010, saying it is not possible to apply the law in this fashion. The law applies to both Kuwaitis and expatriates working in the private sector. The last time the annual leave was increased was in 2010. Circular published by Kuwait government regarding immigration of expatriates

As per circular number 13/2019 (Published on 07/03/2019)

1.Stamping of residency on passport will be discontinued from 10/03/2019 instead of which civil ID will be used for immigration.

2.New civil ID ( embedded with smart chip ) will contain the details of passport (Passport number+english name+ employee details)

3.Expatriates will not be permitted to enter or exit Kuwait without both passport and civil ID.(Information included in both should not contradict)

4.Until further notice, passport in which residency is stamped before 10/03/2019 can be used to travel

5.Incase you obtain a new passport during a visit to your native country you must carry your old passport along with you to be granted entry into Kuwait.Entry will be stamped in your new passport and the details will be transferred.

No residence visa stickers will be placed on the passports of expatriates starting from March 10th, local daily reported. According to report, expatriates will now be able to exit Kuwait using their civil IDs from March 10, provided they hold a valid passport and civil ID since all residency data is recorded in the civil IDs.

The National Assembly’s health and social affairs committee agreed to increase annual leave in the private sector to 35 days from current 30 days, local daily Kuwait Times reported.

Indian Election Commission rules out online voting for expats

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has scotched rumours that Indian expatriates can cast their votes online in the upcoming Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) elections due to be held soon. The news ticker on the ECI website made a clear clarification asking NRIs to be wary of fake news on social media informing that “those who hold Indian passport, can now vote online for 2019 elections. The Election Commission filed a complaint with the Delhi Police on Friday, asking it to track down those spreading "fake news" that NRIs can cast their vote online in the Lok Sabha elections due in April-May. There is no online voting facility for any category of voter. No more residency stickers in passports – Kuwait

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt-Gen Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah has issued a decision to cancel residency stickers that are placed in the passports of expatriates.

According to Assistant Undersecretary for Residency Affairs Major General Talal Marafie, the data included in the residency stickers will be mentioned in the civil IDs.

The decision will be enforced as soon as Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), the embassies of some countries in Kuwait and airlines are ready.

Major General Marafie stressed that implementation of the decision will be preceded by a campaign aimed at informing everyone about the decision. He explained that such a decision has a number of advantages such as bringing an end to confiscation of expatriates’ passports by sponsors as this will no longer be required, and preservation of the papers in the passports. The decision also includes temporary residency and departure notifications.

The General Traffic Department will be using advanced electronic devices to issue and renew driving licences of Kuwaitis online in all the six governorates, reports Al-Anba daily quoting Interior Ministry sources.

The same sources said a number of employees are being trained in this regard how to go about the new system and issue and renew the licences electronically. The sources pointed out the GTD in two months will embark on the project to renew and issue driving licences to Kuwaitis only. However, the expatriates are expected to be included in the project in the near future.

New Visit Visa Rules applied in Kuwait Visa

The interior ministry’s residency affairs directorate announced new regulations for issuing various types of visit visas.As per the new regulations, expatriates can apply for visit visas for their parents provided their monthly salaries are not less than KD 500. The concerned authorities have the right to determine the duration of their visit – either family visa for a duration of 30 days or tourist visa for a duration of 90 days – based on the sponsors’ profession and circumstances, and the purpose of the visit.Regarding visa for siblings, expatriates can apply for family visit visa for them for a duration of only 30 days. There is no extension of duration for all types of visit visas.

Indian Embassy published revised minimum wage requirement for Indian workers  

Indian Embassy in Kuwait revised the minimum wage requirement for Indian workers to be recruited to Kuwait. The updated minimum wage is published on the Embassy website, which will be in effect from January 2019. The minim wage for Indian workers was last revised in January, 2016. "Considering the rise in cost of living in Kuwait since the last revision and the prevailing market rates of wages for both domestic and private sector workers, it has been decided to revise the minimum structure for various job categories of Indian workers in Kuwait with immediate effect," embassy said on its website.

According to the revised list, the minimum wages for unskilled helpers, cleaner and labours are increased to 100 KD. Earlier it was 85 KD. Minimum salary for skilled workers in technical, mechanical and construction field varies from 120 to 150 KD whereas only minor change …

Ship Service to Kuwait from Qatar

Qatar to start luxury cruise ship service to Kuwait

Qatar will soon start a luxury cruise ship service for passengers to Kuwait and Oman. The first-of-its-kind service in the Gulf region, is expected to start its service in two weeks, Qatar media reported.

The 145 meter-long cruise ship ‘MV Grand Ferry’ has the capacity to carry 870 persons and 670 cars. Initially, the ship will be going to ports in Oman and Kuwait, but the service can be extended to Iran, if there is enough demand for the route, media reported quoting Qatar Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti. MV Grand Ferry owner Faisal Mohamed al-Sulaiti said this new offering gives Qatar residents the opportunity to visit two neighboring GCC countries with flexibility and ease.
