PACI launch online service for expats to amend names before ID issuance KUWAIT CITY, April 27: Director General of Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) Musaed Al-Asousi announced the launch of an online service that will allow expatriates to confirm and amend their names in English prior to the issuance of their Civil ID cards. In a press statement, Al-Asousi indicated that the launch of this service is aimed at easing the procedures for people, and expanding in the use of computers in order to avoid repeated visitations to PACI and Ministry of Interior. He explained that the service enables expatriates to access the PACI site and ensure correctness of their personal data. In case there is a mistake, they can request for amendments. The service gives authority to the concerned employees of PACI to rectify spelling mistakes in the names of expatriates in English, which will expedite the process for the clients. Ramadan Working hours announced by Civil Service Commission iiq8 news

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) set the working hours for state institutions during the holy month of Ramadan.

Ministries and governmental institutions including Ministry of Education, Information, Ports, Agriculture Authority, Youth Authority, Industry, Minors Affairs, Customs, Fire Department, Municipality, Civil Service etc will be working from 9:30 am till 2:00 pm for ministries and government institutions.

Rest of the institutions will be working from 10 am to 2:30 pm.

Institutions with special nature need to consult with CSC for their working hours, the statement said.

Foundation stone laid for first traditional Hindu temple in UAE

The historic foundation stone-laying ceremony of the first traditional Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi was performed on Saturday, April 20 in the presence of thousands of Indian community people and officials from India and the UAE.

The ‘Shilanyas Vidhi’ ceremony was presided over by Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha – the religious and social organisation building the temple.

The ceremony started with rituals led by Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami. Sanskrit verses filled the air as priests described to devotees how each ritual had to be conducted.

Community leaders and devotees followed the directions from their respective seated areas which had a tray placed in front of them containing a brick, rice, flowers, nuts etc.

New Rs 50 Currency Note Launched By RBI

The currency of India has undergone a lot of changes over the years, and especially after demonetization. Now, the note of Rs. 50 has been changed and the new note has been launched on Tuesday ( 16-04-2019) .

However, the old notes of Rs. 50 will still continue to be legal. RBI said, “All banknotes in the denomination of Rs. 50 issued by the Reserve Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.”

Kuwait Ministry increases hospital charges for expatriates to 10 KD

Health Minister Sheikh Dr Bassel Al-Sabah issued an orders today to increase public hospital fees for expatriates from KD 5 to KD 10 with immediate effect. The increased fee is applicable for emergency section.

The decision will alleviate the pressure on trauma and ER at public hospitals and encourage patients to seek treatment at polyclinics in their respective areas of residence instead, the health ministry said in a statement.

Kuwait Decline in recruiting expats in oil and gas sector iiq8 Kuwait news

Nearly 50 percent decline seen in the appointment of expatriates in oil sector during the last fiscal year compared to the previous year.

According to local newspaper Al-Rai daily, the appointment of expatriates in oil sector witnessed a decline from 345 during fiscal year 2018/2019 to 190 compared to fiscal year 2017/2018.

The report asserted the significance of resorting to the expatriate experience because they’re the main element in oil industry as per the standards of operation in all global companies, and despite the decline in their appointment, oil sector can’t do without them.

Ramadan in Kuwait May 6th marks the beginning of Ramadan, says Kuwaiti astronomer - KUNA

Kuwaiti Astronomer, Historian and Member of the British Astronomical Association (BAA) Adel Al-Saadoun said that Monday May sixth will mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and that the moon's sighting will be possible with one's own eyes.

Al-Saadoun told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Thursday that the new moon would be at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday May fifth, and in the same evening during sunset, the moon will be missing for 31 minutes, having the new moon last 16 hours and 42 minutes.

Rise of the moon from the horizon line at sunset time is 6.6 degrees, but the lengthening of the moon from the sun will be 9.5 degrees, indicating the moon's visibility according to the astronomers, Al-Saadoun explained.
