From modest beginnings to a multi-national company.
The Alghanim family has a long and successful history, dating back to the 1800s. In 1932, Yusuf Ahmed Alghanim returned to Kuwait from his studies abroad and took over one of his father’s businesses – and under the guidance of Yusuf, the organization grew and diversified over the next forty years throughout the Middle East.
At that period, the group became known as Yusuf Ahmed Alghanim & Sons, and one of the major developments in its growing was its association with General Motors (GM), which introduced American- made vehicles to Kuwait. It is now one of the largest GM agencies in the world.
In the late 1970’s the company became known as ’Alghanim Industries’, and was positioned as a diversified multi-national corporation company. With Yusuf’s grandson, Omar Kutayba Alghanim, joining the management ranks of the company in 2002, Alghanim Industries started a new period of development and growth while continuing to encourage and support existing profitable activities.
Today, Alghanim Industries is on the brink of major expansion, an expansion that is a part of the journey to becoming the most successful and admired company in the region.
