Kuwait City, 30th March, 2021: 1 Million doses of Moderna vaccine pending approval, iiQ8 Country has so far received nine shipments of the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine In an effort to ramp up it’s vaccination campaign, Kuwait’s Central Agency for Public tenders has approved the Ministry of Health’s request to purchase one million doses of the Moderna vaccine, local media reported. The agreement is not final as the Ministry of Health is still waiting for the final approval from the state’s Audit Bureau. If approved, the value of the contract will be worth 12 million Kuwaiti dinars. The decision to supply the Moderna vaccines comes as Kuwait is working towards vaccinating 70 per cent of the country’s population. To date, of the one million residents and citizens that pre-registered for the COVID-19 vaccines around 500,000 residents and citizens have received at least the first jab. The Kuwait , Minister of Health (MoH), Dr. Basil Al-Sabah said that the students would gradually return to school in various stages with the beginning of the new academic year in September. MoH plans to vaccinate all educational and administrative bodies in schools next month, Al Jarida reported. Dr. Basil Al-Sabah stressed the importance of vaccinating everyone, to preserve the health and safety of life. He pointed out that so far 400,000 have been vaccinated in addition to that half of the elderly Kuwaitis registered have been vaccinated, while about a quarter of the elderly foreigners have been vaccinated. Kuwait City, 11th February, 2021: Majority of coronavirus cases are amongst 16-44 age group, iiQ8 COVID-19: 61% of positive cases are Kuwaitis The spokesman for Kuwait’s Ministry of Health, Dr Abdullah Al Sanad, revealed that 61 per cent of those infected with COVID-19 throughout the month of January were Kuwaitis. While the Ministry has held a weekly press conference since the start of the pandemic, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, Al Sanad announced it will be holding a press conference daily at 7pm (8pm UAE time) to keep the public informed. On Tuesday, Kuwait recorded 1,002 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths, making it one of the highest number of positive cases and deaths registered in a single day since the start of the pandemic.
