Kuwait City, 11th February, 2021: Majority of coronavirus cases are amongst 16-44 age group, iiQ8 COVID-19: 61% of positive cases are Kuwaitis The spokesman for Kuwait’s Ministry of Health, Dr Abdullah Al Sanad, revealed that 61 per cent of those infected with COVID-19 throughout the month of January were Kuwaitis. While the Ministry has held a weekly press conference since the start of the pandemic, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, Al Sanad announced it will be holding a press conference daily at 7pm (8pm UAE time) to keep the public informed. On Tuesday, Kuwait recorded 1,002 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths, making it one of the highest number of positive cases and deaths registered in a single day since the start of the pandemic. Given the steep increase in cases, Kuwait has enforced several new measures from banning non-Kuwaitis from travelling to Kuwait for two weeks to closing down saloons and gyms for a month. Kuwait City, 8th February 2021: Kuwait to launch 10 mobile vaccination units, iiQ8 So far 300,000 people have pre-registered to take the vaccine The Ministry of Health, Kuwait announced that it will deploy 10 mobile units to vaccinate people that are unable to leave their homes due to severe health conditions, local media reported. The mobile vaccination units will be targeted to those that are bedridden, people with special needs and anybody that has a severe illness that prevents them from traveling to the vaccination centers. There will be two mobile units for each of Kuwait’s five health districts. Kuwait City, 8th February 2021: Kuwait Hotel quarantine could signal flight ban end, iiQ8 Country announced last August a ban on direct flights from dozens of countries A Kuwaiti decision to apply a mandatory quarantine to all passengers to the country is “likely” to dismantle a flight ban imposed months ago on health grounds, a local newspaper has said. Starting from February 21, Kuwait will enforce mandatory seven-day hotel quarantine on all passengers arriving in Kuwait at their expense to curb the spread of COVID-19. Upon the end of the institutional quarantine period, passengers will have to undergo domestic quarantine for seven more days.
