Kuwait Cricket Women’s Team to participate in T20I Gulf Championship

*Kuwait Cricket Women’s Team led by Amna Sharif all set to participate in the first ever T20I Gulf Championship from 19th-26th of March in Oman at the picturesque Al Amerat Grounds.* 🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼
This will be the first time in the history of Women’s cricket that all the Gulf countries will be participating and playing against each other including Bahrain 🇧🇭 , Kuwait 🇰🇼 , Oman 🇴🇲 , Qatar 🇶🇦 , Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 and the UAE 🇦🇪 .
The format of the championship will be round robin where all teams get to place each other once and the table topper in the end will be the championship winner.
Kuwait Women’s team had tasted sweet success in the able leadership of skipper Amna & the vice captaincy of Priyada when they both carried Kuwait over the line line in a nail biting triangular triumph against Qatar & Oman in early 2020 and the girls in blue are now pumped up to repeat those high voltage performances in the T20I Gulf Championship with Kuwait’s marquee player Maryam Omar also set to join her team mates in Muscat all the way from Melbourne.
Kuwait Cricket Board’s appointed Women’s Cricket Committee comprising of coaches Ghayour Ahmed, Tariq Shah & manager Husnain Arshad along with the professional guidelines & assistance of National Head Coach of Kuwait Cricket Muthumudalige Pushpakumar have selected the final squad for the T20I Gulf Championship based on talent, performance (domestic & international) as well as fitness.

The traveling squad will be headed by Ms Awatef Al Qallaf, former shooting champion of Kuwait and one of the current board members at Kuwait Cricket and she will be assisted by Team Manager Qais Parkar. Coach Ghayour Ahmed, one of the former international players of Kuwait will continue his duties as the head coach of the Kuwait Women’s team.
Kuwait Cricket Board President Haider Farman, General Secretary Emad Al Jassam & Director General Sajid Ashraf made a special appearance to wish the Kuwait Women’s delegation good luck for the Gulf T20I Championship where the President in his motivational speech to the girls said “go out there, enjoy & express yourselves and don’t limit your thoughts on just winning or losing..sport teaches a new lesson everyday and we must continue to learn..”
