Kuwait Allows transfer of Business visas into work permit, iiQ8

In a move that would solve the problem of labor shortages in the labor market due to the closure of recruitment visas for workers, The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers sent a letter to the Director-General of the Public Authority for Manpower allowing the transfer of entry visas to the State of Kuwait “commercial visit” into work permits. Reported by Al-Qabas.

The Ministerial Committee for Corona Emergencies, in its meeting No. “50/2021”, held on June 24, 2021, reviewed the letter of shop owners and commercial companies regarding a request to allow them to convert entry visas to the State of Kuwait for a commercial visit to work permits. Without the need to leave the country and return again with new entry visas. The book indicated that, after discussion, the committee decided the following:

Approval of converting entry visas, a commercial visit, into work permits, which were granted to shop owners and commercial companies, without the need to leave the country and return again with new entry visas.

In addition, responsible sources told that the decision comes in light of the directives of the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman, and the efforts made by the Public Authority for Manpower to cover the shortage of labor in the local market.

She indicated that the authority had previously issued, last May, a decision regarding the duration of the transfer of manpower recruited with work permits to employers the lapse of one year from the date of issuance of the work permit instead of three years, provided that the approval of the employer is obtained.

The sources stated that one of the conditions set by the authority for the transfer of workers who obtained work permits according to the decision is that they are transferred among those listed on the distinguished lists, in addition to the rest of the conditions and controls in force with the authority in this regard.

Regarding the approval of the Emergency Committee regarding entry features “commercial visit”, the sources expected to issue an organized decision by the “manpower” in this regard, specifying the ways to allow its transfer and the required conditions, provided that it is applied until further notice in light of the measures taken by the Council Ministers during the current pandemic and in light of the measures taken at the health level.
