How Kuwait Indemnity Is Calculated

The private-sector calculation uses two service bands.
The rate changes after the first five years.

First 5 Years

Each completed year within the first five years
contributes 15 days of salary.

Monthly Salary ÷ 30 × 15 × Years

For example, a monthly salary of 1,000 KWD gives
500 KWD for one full year under this formula.

After 5 Years

Once five years have been completed, each additional
year contributes the equivalent of one month’s salary.

First 5 Years + Salary × Additional Years

The calculator automatically separates the first
five years from the remaining service period.

Kuwait End-of-Service Indemnity Guide

What Is Indemnity?

End-of-service indemnity is a payment associated
with the completion or termination of employment.
For eligible private-sector workers, the amount is
generally linked to the applicable wage and length
of service.

The calculator on this page provides an estimate
rather than a legally binding settlement figure.

What Information Do You Need?

  • Employment start date
  • Employment end date
  • Applicable monthly salary
  • Your contract and employment circumstances

Important Salary Note

The salary figure used for an actual settlement can
depend on the applicable legal definition of wage,
contractual terms and the employee’s circumstances.

Therefore, use the calculator as an estimate and
verify the final amount against your employment
records and applicable Kuwait regulations.

Why Use a Date Calculator?

Service periods do not always fall neatly into whole
years. Entering your actual employment dates gives
the calculator a more useful estimate than simply
selecting a rounded number of years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Kuwait end-of-service indemnity
and the calculator.

How is Kuwait indemnity calculated?

+

The calculation used by this calculator applies
15 days of salary for each year within the first
five years, followed by one month’s salary for
each additional year.

How much indemnity is earned after 1 year?

+

Under the calculation method used here, one year
represents 15 days of salary. With a salary of
1,000 KWD, the illustrative amount is 500 KWD.

What is the amount after 5 years?

+

Five years represents 75 days of salary, equivalent
to 2.5 months under this formula. At 1,000 KWD per
month, that example equals 2,500 KWD.

What happens after the fifth year?

+

Each additional year after the first five is
calculated at 30 days of salary, equivalent to
one month’s salary per additional year.

Can I calculate 10 years of service?

+

Yes. Enter the actual employment dates in the main
calculator or choose 10 years in the quick calculator.
With a 1,000 KWD illustrative salary, 10 years gives
7,500 KWD under this formula.

Does the calculator include allowances?

+

The salary basis for a real employment settlement
can depend on the applicable legal definition of
wage and the employee’s contract. For that reason,
the calculator should be treated as an estimate.

Is this a legally binding calculation?

+

No. This is an informational calculator. Employment
contracts, wage components, termination circumstances
and applicable legal provisions can affect the final
settlement.

Does the calculator save my salary information?

+

The calculation is performed in your browser by the
JavaScript on this page. The calculator itself does
not need to send the entered figures to a server.
