How do you know who blocked you on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp says there is no foolproof way to find out who has blocked you via the app, but there are plenty of clues that can give you a good idea.

And if you think that you have been blocked on WhatsApp, then first of all, think about why, maybe you are harassing or abusing someone, and you should stop trying to contact them.

WhatsApp says one of the biggest signs is that you can no longer see your last seen or online in the chat window.

You will not see profile picture updates for the contact who blocked you.

In any messages you’ve sent to the person who blocked you, one checkmark will always appear (message delivered), but never again will the message delivered.

Any calls you try to make with this contact will not go through.

WhatsApp said: “If you see all the indicators above for a contact, this means that the user has blocked you, however, there are other possibilities.”

She noted, “We have intentionally made this ambiguous in order to protect your privacy when you block someone. Thus, we cannot tell you if you have been blocked by someone else.”

To block a contact on iPhone, go to Settings, then Account, then Privacy, select Blocked, then Add New, and then choose the contact you want to block.

On Android, open WhatsApp and tap More options (three dots) and then Settings.

Then go to Account, then Privacy, choose “Blocked Contacts”, click the Add Contact tab, and then choose the person you want to block.

And if an unknown number calls you on either platform, you can open a chat with them, choose their profile, and block them from there.
