DEPARTURE SOON FOR EXPAT WORKERS TIED TO GOVT CONTRACTS
Strict legal procedures if any company refuses or evades its obligations
KUWAIT CITY, 13th June, 2020:
The emergency and crisis management team of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has succeeded in completing the departure procedures for about 100 migrant workers who are registered under companies linked to the implementation of government contracts and residing in Mahboula region, following the cancellation of their residence permits due to their fi-nal travel.
According to official sources from PAM, the team affiliated to the Deputy Director for Labor Protection Sector Affairs Dr. Mubarak Al-Azmi and under the leadership of the Supervisor for Labor Relations Department Ali AI-Dilmani supervised the departure process of the workers.
It started with ensuring the workers received their complete financial dues before they traveled and transporting them to the airport on private buses, in coordination with the representatives of companies under which these workers are registered and the police station of Fintas area, to complete their travel and boarding procedures.
In line with the Cabinet’s decisions in terms of the measures to combat COVID-19 pandemic, the Labor Affairs Sector has adopted the final cancellation service to facilitate the travel of workers on government projects by using the “Easy’ portal in order to make things easy for both employees and employers and to achieve remote work policy.
Direct instructions were issued by PAM officials regarding the need to ensure these workers are given their dues before their departure. If any company refuses or evades its obligations towards its workers, strict legal procedures are applied against it such as blocking its file and liquidation of its financial guarantee to pay the dues of its workers.
The sources stressed that the team, which works around the clock during the COVID-19 pandemic, succeeded in paying the monthly financial dues of hundreds of expatriate workers who are registered on the files of troubled companies.
They revealed that the last payment was made at the accommodation shelter for expatriate workers in Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh area in coordination with the police station of the area, affirming that the team will continue to provide assistance and aid to the affected workers and make sure their dues are paid to them.
