Sr. Learning and Development Manager

Job Summary:
We are hiring a Senior Learning and Development Manager who will serve as a key HR business partner working closely with BU Executive Teams and HR Leadership Team to translate business strategy / plans into value-add Learning and Development solutions. He/she is responsible for the design, development and deployment of enterprise-wide Learning and Development strategies and plans that visibly contribute to driving competitive advantage. This role is based in Kuwait and will report to the Chief HR Officer at Alghanim Industries.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with selected business & HR stakeholders to determine development needs and strategy that ensures employees have the competencies and experiences necessary to achieve Company performance goals; ensures alignment with other HR process, policy and business rule changes.
  • Builds strategy and drives development, deployment and measurement of an aligned approach to management development and assessment for newly appointed, mid and senior levels of management using all modes of delivery, including technology, to balance the quality of development with the cost of delivery.
  • Introduces innovative and leading edge management and leadership development programs designed to meet specific individual, business unit, and corporate needs, consistent with the human resources planning and business strategy efforts of AI.
  • Establishes metrics and criteria for delivering services, monitors performance against these, and manages customer expectations regarding service delivery capabilities and results.
  • Establishes and reinforces compliance with enterprise-wide processes, standards and goals for needs assessment, design, delivery, deployment and measurement of workforce development systems and solutions; ensures alignment with internal audit, HR and other relevant governance/control criteria.
  • Work closely with the Data Analytics team to collect and aggregate data and translate those data into insights through data analysis that drives deliberate action plans at the appropriate levels.
  • Drives identification and development of relevant management systems, processes and tools that enable managers to optimize individual and team performance and engagement. Leverages intuitive technology solutions that provide easy-to-use team performance and engagement tools.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to develop and execute vendor management strategies and agreements for the provision of selected global services. Considered expert in global best practice human resource development products, vendors, services, etc.; attends conferences, seminars and key opinion leader events to stay current.
  • Builds and maintains relationships/networks with global/regional business and HR Leaders/Key Opinion Leaders, as well as external partners (e.g. business consultants, business school faculty, etc.).  Evangelizes and champions individual, team and Company development initiatives.
  • Serves as coach, advisor and expert in developing team knowledge, practices and benchmarking; keeps team abreast of new developments in field; considered expert with latest research, best practices, methodologies and trends.
  • Manages L&D budget to ensure fiscal responsibility; monitors financial performance and recommends resources based on analysis of expected costs, benefits and understanding of business goals; achieves planned objectives with budgeted resources.

 

Candidate skills and requirements:

  • 8-10 years’ experience in Learning & Development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Psychology, Organization Development, Business Administration or related field.
  • Learning and Development/Leaders Assessment/Coaching-related certifications a plus (e.g. MBTI, Firo B, Trainer Skills, etc).
  • Multi-industry experience is desirable.
  • Successful track record working as an HR Leader
  • Well-developed understanding of the business environment and associated contemporary issues in Learning and Development.
  • Proven record of working as a cross-BU partner with line management in the design and implementation of effective and efficient Learning & Development solutions.
  • Experience transforming and driving change across a complex, dynamic, matrix organization.

Long Description

The Head of Design will report directly to the Digital Director, having overall responsibility for Design across the entire Consumer group – managing design across all digital touchpoints, including website, mobile applications, store applications, digital kiosks, digital menu boards etc. This individual will be fully empowered to drive design decisions as part of our digital transformation journey, whilst developing & leading the Digital team.

It is expected the individual will be a key strategic figure in the on-going digital transformation, ensuring we deliver best-in-class digital solutions across the Retail group. The individual will lead the newly formed ‘Design Team’ comprising of designers & researchers and will be expected to work alongside the various Product Owners to lead and execute the design of all customer facing touchpoints. The Design team is in a nascent stage with one internal resource, and six external resources and it is expected the team will grow to ten resources (internal / external).

Design Team will assume responsibility for all areas of design including wireframe design of the touchpoint (e.g. Website), customer persona creation, customer journey end-to-end mapping, style guide creation and all related user experience / user interface elements.
It is expected that best-in-class customer-centric solutions are built, using internal data sources (e.g. Consumer Data Platform) and external data sources (e.g. Focus groups).

The Head of Design will ensure projects are designed to deliver a best-in-class omni channel customer journey, focussing on design consistency across all touchpoints. It is expected that projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and meeting / exceeding expectations – most crucially the measure will be on delivering calculable business value per project initiative. It is expected that the individual will propose modern solutions ensuring design is ahead of competition and considered world leading.

This individual will have excellent design skills, good communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a passion for Retail. Strong presentation skills are required, as well as the confidence to work with multiple stakeholders from business, Digital & IT teams, external vendors, and delivery partners. It is expected that the individual is a keen follower of modern design trends.

Candidate Requirements

University degree, ideally from a creative design discipline.
8 years+ experience working within Design, specifically ecommerce design.
Ability to deliver world class design solutions across all consumer facing touchpoints in an omni channel retail environment.
Ability to effectively execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to understand and communicate complex concepts and resolve complex problems.
Experience of facilitating & running workshops (business, Digital & IT facing).
Project management experience is preferable.
Experience of digital platforms, ideally Microservices
