Kuwait City, 26th January 2021: MOI launch of sponsorship service online, iiQ8 The Ministry of Interior has announced the launch of a sponsorship service (18) from a sponsor to a sponsor via the Ministry of Interior website (www.moi.gov.kw) starting today, Tuesday, January 26. The General Department of Relations and Security Media reported that the service is a part of the efforts of the Ministry of Interior to digital transformation of all its services, saving time, effort and speedy completion for auditors, and therefore launched the General Department of Information Systems in cooperation and coordination with Residence affairs sector. Kuwait City, 24th January 2021: Kuwait to launch strict campaign against visa violators, iiQ8 Deadline to amend residency permits will end on Jan 31 There are over 100,000 visa violators, yet since the grace period began in March only 5,000 people took advantage of the grace period and amended their status. Visa violators: Visa violations in Kuwait have hit a new record, with around 180,000 expats in the country being without valid residency permits, Al Rai reported. A 38 per cent spike occurred since August where the total number of visa violators was around 130,000. Grace period: The Ministry of Interior initiated its first grace period at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March and was supposed to end in May. Kuwait City, 22nd January 2021: 50 KD Additional to pay by Kuwait Arrivals, iiQ8 Passengers traveling to Kuwait have to pay additional 50 KD As per recent decision by the Council of Ministers that airlines are to be charged for #PCR tests for arrivals, the Directorate of Civil Aviation directed the airlines operating at Kuwait Airport to add the price of the PCR tests that will be imposed on all arrivals to Kuwait. The concerned authorities have reached an initial price of KD 25 per PCR examination, two tests totals to KD 50. The first test will be done on arrival and second after 7 days of institutional quarantine. Both PCR fees will be added to the ticket of passengers who are coming to Kuwait, reports Al Rai. The Kuwaiti government has kept six gold companies under close scrutiny on suspicion of money laundering, after their businesses ballooned in the last three years, local media reported. Official sources told Al Rai newspaper that the Trade Ministry, during its audit of activities, discovered that there were gold companies that recorded a rapid financial rise despite their recent emergence in the sector. The sources pointed out that compared to the traditional expansion in the gold market, the six companies have witnessed a large and illogical jump since their establishment, even in the number of its branches compared to the developments of similar companies. Kuwait City, 19th January 2021: Q8 Domestic worker recruitment costs set at 990 KD, JobsinQ8 The cost of bringing in domestic workers from abroad is set at a maximum of KD990 dinars through offices and KD390 for domestic workers requested directly by the Kuwaiti employer, after the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) confirmed in a press release, Al Qabas reported. The obligations of the recruitment office owner are specified, most notably that the recruitment office guarantees the domestic worker will work for a period of six month, during which the office will return the domestic worker to his country and provide a refund to the employer if there is an obstacle preventing the domestic worker from being employed at the home of the sponsor.
