Kuwait City, 11th June 2022: #Kuwait: #Jordanian family deported for having no source of income #Family had been sleeping in beach area for more than two months A Jordanian family of six in #Kuwait was deported for having no source of income, local media reported. The family includes - the father, mother and 4 children aged 7, 5 and 3 and an infant - were deported to Jordan as per Article 16 of the Foreigners #Residence Law, which grants the security services authority to deport an expat in the event there is no source of income. The Jordanian family suffered as a result of harsh economic conditions resulting from COVID-19 and both the man and his wife lost their jobs, leaving them without a source of livelihood or shelter. They were reduced to sleeping in the Shuwaikh beach area, and using public toilets. Kuwait City, 8th June 2022: #Kuwaiti woman jailed for 3 years over #Indian helper’s death Case dates back to 2020 when she was convicted of torturing maid to death A top court in Kuwait has revoked an earlier 10-year-jail term for a Kuwaiti woman and sentenced her instead to three years in prison on charges of torturing her Indian housemaid to death, a local newspaper has reported. The court had upheld a suspended one-year jail sentence to the defendant’s husband in the same case for failing to care for the victim in his capacity as her sponsor, Al Anba added. The case dates back to 2020 when both defendants were accused of human trafficking and abusing the housemaid by forcing her to work and confiscating her passport. The prime defendant was charged with fatally beating up the helper. Her lawyer said his client had been initially charged with premeditated murder, but investigations showed lack of evidence and that she did not intend to kill the housemaid.…

According to the global temperature index, Al Jahra posted the highest temperatures on earth on Sunday followed by Al Wafra city with 49.7 °C. Kuwait and parts of southern Iraq, in addition to eastern and northeastern Saudi Arabia, are currently affected by a very hot air mass, whose impact is expected to continue throughout the current week, accompanied by temperatures exceeding 50° C.
