🪔 Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival dedicated to 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐲𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐯 & 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐔𝐬𝐡𝐚 & 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐡𝐲𝐚 in order to thank them for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes.
🪔The Goddess who is worshipped during the famous Chhath Puja is known as 𝐂𝐡𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐲𝐚. Chhathi Maiya is known as 𝐔𝐬𝐡𝐚 and She is believed to be the beloved younger wife of Surya Dev, the Sun God.
🪔In Mithilanchal region She is also worshipped as "𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐢". It is observed by Maithilis, Magahis, Bhojpuris & even Awadhis of India & Nepal.
🪔 Chhath means Six in Maithili, Magahi & Bhojpuri languages because the main festival occurs after 5 days of Deepavali i.e, the sixth day, hence the name 𝐂𝐡𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐡. Chhath Puja starts from the fourth day of Deepavali & lasts for another four days.
