Amazon Web Services opens office in Kuwait

AWS continues to invest in the Middle East to support the growing number of customers and partners moving to the cloud.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has opened a new office in Kuwait. The office was licensed through the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) under the State of Kuwait’s Direct Investment Law.

It is part of the ongoing investments AWS is making in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and serves to support the growing number of customers and partners in Kuwait.

Millions of active customers are using AWS each month in over 190 countries around the world, including tens of thousands of customers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Through the AWS Training and Certification programmes, AWS continues to expand its work with government entities in Kuwait to support the upskilling and retraining of the workforce with the latest cloud computing training curriculum, including its work with the Ministry of Youth and the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), which provides cloud training programmes to various government agencies.

Isabella Groegor-Cechowicz, Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), AWS Worldwide Public Sector, said: “We are pleased to continue our investment in the Middle East and North Africa with our latest office opening in Kuwait. The opening brings us even closer to our customers, including a number of Kuwait’s government agencies that are adopting cloud technologies to better serve citizens. We are excited by the country’s commitment to enabling a digital economy, and look forward to supporting it in realising the full benefits of cloud computing. We also look forward to expanding our collaboration on training programmes to support the development of cloud skills in Kuwait for both the public and private sectors.”

Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Director General for Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), added: “We welcome the AWS office opening in Kuwait. The adoption of technologies is an important factor in developing and supporting the country’s digital transformation initiatives in line with Kuwait’s Vision 2035.”

The office in Kuwait is the newest addition to AWS offices in MENA, which include Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and UAE, where it is building teams of account managers, technical account managers, partner managers, systems engineers, solutions architects, professional services, and other roles to help customers of all sizes move to AWS.
