๐ช Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival dedicated to ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐๐ฏ & ๐๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ฌ, ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ & ๐๐๐ง๐๐ก๐ฒ๐ in order to thank them for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes.
๐ชThe Goddess who is worshipped during the famous Chhath Puja is known as ๐๐ก๐ก๐๐ญ๐ก๐ข ๐๐๐ข๐ฒ๐. Chhathi Maiya is known as ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ and She is believed to be the beloved younger wife of Surya Dev, the Sun God.
๐ชIn Mithilanchal region She is also worshipped as "๐๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ข". It is observed by Maithilis, Magahis, Bhojpuris & even Awadhis of India & Nepal.
๐ช Chhath means Six in Maithili, Magahi & Bhojpuri languages because the main festival occurs after 5 days of Deepavali i.e, the sixth day, hence the name ๐๐ก๐ก๐๐ญ๐ก. Chhath Puja starts from the fourth day of Deepavali & lasts for another four days.
