Carrefour Kuwait profile
Carrefour Kuwait is the Kuwait operation of the Carrefour hypermarket and supermarket brand, which Majid Al Futtaim runs as exclusive franchisee in the Middle East. Its stores include a large Carrefour at The Avenues in Al Rai, and its website offers online shopping with a customer-service line. This page covers the contact details, the stores, opening-hours guidance, services, careers, how to reach the stores by bus using the routes on KuwaitBusRoute, and links to related guides on IndianinQ8. Because we could not verify a head-office address, the listing address is the Carrefour at The Avenues, one of the chain’s best-known stores.
Carrefour Kuwait needs one important update in the article: Carrefour ceased operations in Kuwait in September 2025. So the page should serve as an accurate company and closure guide, explain what happened to its former stores, and direct job seekers to the correct employer careers portal rather than presenting Carrefour branches as still open.

Carrefour Kuwait – Company Profile, Store Closure, HyperMax Replacement & Careers
Carrefour was one of the well-known hypermarket and supermarket brands in Kuwait, offering groceries, fresh food, household essentials, electronics, clothing, and other everyday products. The brand operated in Kuwait through Majid Al Futtaim, a leading retail and lifestyle group in the Middle East.
However, Carrefour ceased all operations in Kuwait effective 16 September 2025. Majid Al Futtaim subsequently launched its own grocery retail brand, HyperMax, in Kuwait, replacing Carrefour stores with a new shopping concept.
This guide explains Carrefour’s history in Kuwait, the closure announcement, the HyperMax replacement, career opportunities, and useful links for customers and job seekers.

History of Carrefour in Kuwait
Carrefour entered the Middle East through Majid Al Futtaim, which operated the brand under franchise rights in several regional markets. Over the years, Carrefour developed a presence in Kuwait, serving residents with groceries, fresh produce, imported food products, household supplies, personal care products, electronics, and other retail goods.
The company continued expanding its store network, including a supermarket opened in the Khairan area in February 2022.
On 16 September 2025, Carrefour announced that it would stop operating in Kuwait. The closure formed part of a broader change in Majid Al Futtaim’s grocery retail strategy in selected regional markets.
Why Did Carrefour Close in Kuwait?
Carrefour announced the end of its Kuwait operations but did not provide a detailed public explanation for the decision in its customer closure notice.
The closure was followed by the introduction of HyperMax, a grocery retail brand owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim. This allowed the group to continue serving the Kuwaiti grocery market under a different brand.
Customers should therefore distinguish between the closure of the Carrefour name in Kuwait and the continued retail activities of Majid Al Futtaim through its replacement brand.
What Replaced Carrefour in Kuwait?
HyperMax is the grocery retail brand introduced by Majid Al Futtaim in Kuwait following Carrefour’s departure.
The company announced the launch on 17 September 2025, highlighting a modern grocery shopping experience, competitive value, an integrated e-commerce platform, and cooperation with Kuwaiti farmers, suppliers, and small and medium-sized businesses.
Customers looking for grocery shopping options at former Carrefour locations should search for HyperMax rather than assuming that Carrefour is still operating.

Vision, mission and what the company does
We did not find a published vision and mission statement for Carrefour Kuwait in the text we could read, so we have not invented one. The company’s own text promises the same quality, choice and reasonable cost that Carrefour offers across the world.
Its customer channels are its stores, a website and app for online shopping, and a customer-service line.
Address and location
We did not find a verified head-office address for Carrefour Kuwait. An old directory gives only a postal address, P.O. Box 29275, Kuwait City. For this listing we have used the Carrefour store at The Avenues, which directories place in Phase 1 of the mall on the 5th Ring Road in Al Rai, in Farwaniya Governorate.
Directories also list a Carrefour in 360 Mall, in Hawalli, and other stores in malls and neighbourhoods. The company’s website has a store locator, which is the reliable source for the current list.
Contact information
| Channel | Details |
|---|---|
| Customer service (Carrefour Kuwait contact page) | +965 2259 8244 |

| Other numbers on directories | 1800432 (short number listed on directories) |
| Contact form | carrefourkuwait.com, contact us |
| X (Twitter) | @CarrefourKW |
| Website | carrefourkuwait.com |
Carrefour Kuwait’s contact page lists 22598244 for customer service and offers a contact form. Directories give other numbers, including a short number, 1800432, and different store numbers, which we could not confirm on the company’s own site, so use the number on the contact page first.
For online orders, use the website or app and keep your order number ready. We did not publish an email address because the only one we found comes from an old directory.
Working hours
Normal working hours, day by day
| Day | Store hours (typical) |
|---|---|
| Sunday | Open daily; typical hours 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM to midnight |
| Monday | Open daily; typical hours 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM to midnight |
| Tuesday | Open daily; typical hours 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM to midnight |
| Wednesday | Open daily; typical hours 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM to midnight |
| Thursday | Open daily; typical hours 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM to midnight |
| Friday | Open daily; typical hours 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM to midnight |
| Saturday | Open daily; typical hours 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM to midnight |
Carrefour’s hypermarkets open every day, including Friday and Saturday. A store directory lists 9:00 AM to midnight on every day of the week. An older Carrefour text said its stores were open from 8:00 AM to midnight throughout the year. Those two sources disagree by an hour at the start of the day, so treat the table as a guide only, and check your store’s hours on the Carrefour website.
Arabian ITS | Arabian Information Technology Solutions Company
Stores inside malls may follow the mall’s hours for some departments, and branch hours can differ.
Working hours in Ramadan
The same older Carrefour text said that in Ramadan its stores opened from 9:00 AM to 1:00 AM. That is not a current Kuwait announcement, so check the store or the Carrefour website before you visit during the month, since supermarkets often change their Ramadan hours from year to year.
Public holidays
The company is closed or changes its hours on official Kuwaiti public holidays, and visitors should expect schedules to change around Eid and national days. Announcements come from the company, so confirm before you visit.
Operations and services
Carrefour Kuwait sells groceries, fresh food, bakery and deli items, household goods, electronics and general merchandise, and its listings describe a range of more than 100,000 products. It also offers online shopping through its website and app, with home delivery.
Prices, offers and delivery areas change, so read the offer page or the app before you shop. Keep your invoice if you may need to return an item, and ask the customer-service desk about the store’s policy.
Careers and recruitment
Carrefour in Kuwait is run by Majid Al Futtaim, so vacancies are normally advertised through the company’s own website and careers pages. Roles in stores include cashiers, sales staff, stockroom staff, butchers, bakers, supervisors and managers. Vacancies change, so check the official site.
Be careful with recruitment offers. Do not pay money to anyone who promises a guaranteed Carrefour job, and verify an advert on the company’s own website. For job leads in Kuwait, see the Kuwait job vacancies on IndianinQ8.
How to reach the head office by bus
Carrefour’s stores are in several areas, so the bus route depends on the store. KuwaitBusRoute’s master list, Kuwait bus routes and numbers, shows routes across Kuwait, and the Salmiya bus routes label and the pages for Kuwait Bus 15 (Maliya to Salmiya) and Kuwait Bus 17 (Sharq to Salmiya) cover the Salmiya and Sharq side. None of the pages we checked names The Avenues or 360 Mall as a stop, so check the route pages before you travel.
Bus routes, stops and timings change, and none of these pages names a stop at the company’s door, so check the route pages and the nearest stop before travelling. For fares and cards, see the Kuwait bus pass guide. You can also browse the list on Kuwait bus routes and numbers on IndianinQ8 and more local routes on KuwaitBusRoute.
Before you visit
- Check your store’s hours on the Carrefour website.
- Check the offers on the app or website before you go.
- Bring your own bags and keep your receipt.
- Store hours, offers and delivery areas change, so confirm them before you travel.

Map note: the pin stored for this listing is a general Kuwait City position and not the company’s exact location. Use the address above, or the Google Maps link, which searches for the address.
Reviews and feedback
We do not copy reviews onto this page, because ratings and comments change. To read or write reviews of Carrefour Kuwait, open its Google Maps listing: search for Carrefour Kuwait on Google Maps. Reviews of one branch say little about another, so read them with care.
For feedback or complaints about the company’s services, use the contact details above. Do not send personal documents to unofficial addresses.
