Our Vision
YIACO Medical Center follows YIACO’s vision in being the network in healthcare services aspiring for community well-being.
Q: Do I need to make an appointment to see a pediatrician?
A: Appointments are not required for the pediatric department. Walk-in patients are welcome anytime during the working hours of YMC
Q: At what age does your center start administering vaccines?
A: Our doctors, specialists will advise for the eligibility and the age for each vaccination.
Q: What should I use to clean my child’s teeth?
A: A toothbrush will remove plaque bacteria that can lead to decay. Any soft-bristled toothbrush with a small head, preferably one designed specifically for infants, should be used at least once a day at bedtime.
Q: How can I prevent dental decay caused my nursing?
A: Avoid nursing children to sleep or putting anything other than water in their bedtime bottle. Also, learn the proper way to brush and floss your child’s teeth. Take your child to a pediatric dentist regularly to have his/her teeth and gums checked. The first dental visit should be scheduled by your child’s first birthday.
Q: Are x-rays safe for children?
A: X-rays are completely safe for children. Our radiologists are certified and completely capable of performing procedures.
Q: Can I meet a pediatrician before my baby is born?
A: Yes, we welcome parents-to-be to visit our office for a prenatal consultation. It is a great way to get acquainted with our practice. At the prenatal consultation visit, we discuss your pregnancy as it pertains to the baby’s health and answers any questions you might have about your newborn. Many parents find it helpful to discuss infant feeding (breast, bottle or both), umbilical cord care, circumcision, stooling and voiding habit, signs of illness, jaundice, newborn sleep habits, colic, and car seat safety. The prenatal visit is an unhurried face-to-face consultation designed to help you and your baby get off to a great start.
Q: How often should I bring my child to the pediatrician?
A: Your child should not only see the pediatrician for an illness. It is also important to schedule well-child-care exams regularly, beginning in infancy. Also called well-child visits or checkups, these routine examinations provide the best opportunity for Dr. Avery to observe the progress of your child’s physical and emotional growth and development. Well-child visits are a good time for parents to raise questions and concerns about a child’s development, behavior, nutrition, safety and overall well-being.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends this schedule for routine well-care visits:
- 3 to 5 days
- 1 month
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- 24 months
- 30 months
- 3 years
- 4 years
And once every year thereafter for an annual health supervision visit that includes a physical exam as well as a developmental, behavioral, and learning assessment
