In what could bring about a solution to a months-long crisis involving expatriates above 60 in Kuwait, the newly appointed Justice Minister Jamal Al Jalwai will hold talks this week with the agencies concerned to devise the “best mechanism” to address the problem, a local newspaper has reported. A disputed ban on renewing work permits for this category of expatriates who hold no university degree has been in effect in Kuwait for several months now, spelling trouble for them and their families. In this context, informed sources revealed to “Al-Rai” that “there has big a big jump in the number of recipients of this dose, and the percentage has doubled from 7 to about 13.5 percent within about 10 days.” The sources explained “the number of recipients of the third dose was 237,000 on December 19, and it jumped to 437,000 on December 30,” noting that the proportion of those who received this dose compared to the number of recipients of the second dose was 7% (237,000 out of about 3.2 million).
