Kuwait City: In an exciting move to simplify local money transfers, Kuwait Banks Launch WAMD Payment Service – What is it? banks across Kuwait have launched a new payment service called WAMD. This service allows users to send and receive money quickly through Knet, using just a phone number.
The name “WAMD” comes from the Arabic word for “Flash,” which perfectly captures the speed and convenience of this new feature. Previously, if you wanted to send money to a friend, you’d have to either add them as a beneficiary or generate a payment link.

With #WAMD, those steps are no longer necessary. Instead, you can now simply open your mobile banking app, choose to send or request money via WAMD, enter the amount and the recipient’s phone number, and hit send. WAMD takes care of the rest – sending a payment link and notifying both you and the recipient via SMS with updates on the transaction status.

How to Get Started with WAMD in #Kuwait ?
To start using WAMD, both you and the person you’re sending money to must first register for the service. Registration is simple and can be done directly through your banking app.
All you need to do is input your phone number, and you’ll receive an OTP (One-Time Password) to verify it. Once verified, you’re all set to start using WAMD for local transfers.

Limits and Requirements
There are a few limits to keep in mind when using WAMD. The minimum transaction amount is 1 KD, and the maximum per transaction is 1,000 KD. You also have a daily limit of 3,000 KD and a monthly limit of 20,000 KD.
The best part? WAMD is completely free to use. However, it’s important to note that you must have a Kuwait-based phone number and a bank account with a participating Kuwaiti bank.
