DIGITAL CIVIL ID CARD TO IDENTIFY PEOPLE AND COMPLETE TRANSACTIONS APPROVED

KUWAIT CITY, July 8: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anas Al-Saleh has approved the digital civil ID card in identifying people and completing transactions.

The text of the decision stipulates that After reviewing Law No. 32 of 1982 in the matter of civil information system, Law No. 20 of 2014 concerning electronic transactions and its executive regulations, Law No. 63 of 2015 on combating IT crime, the Authority’s Board of Directors Decision No. 2 of 2009 regarding re-issuance of a Civil ID card with electronic chip for Kuwaitis, the Authority’s Board of Directors Decision No. 1 of 2012 concerning Civil ID card provided with electronic chip for non-Kuwaitis, and upon the necessity of work interest the following has been decided;

Article One:
The digital card issued through the Kuwait mobile ID application system will determine the identity of an individual in all governmental and non-governmental transactions.

Article Two:
Kuwait mobile ID (My ID) application provides secure access to governmental and non-governmental services electronically, with electronic signature for paper documents and electronic documents.

Article Three:
The expired civil ID card must be renewed, in order to activate the services available under the Kuwait mobile ID application.

Article Four:
This decision shall be enforced from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, and competent authorities should implement it within their jurisdiction.

Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior for Operations and Traffic Affairs Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh requested the Ministry of Commerce to notify the decoration shops that shading of vehicles violates the law and it’s inadmissible.

The letter directed to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce for Companies and Licenses reads: “It has come to our notice that most decoration shops shade car windows in violation of the Traffic Law and its executive regulations, as Article 46 bis states that’Shaded glass’ is allowed to be installed for all types of vehicles, provided that the degree of shading does not exceed 30 percent of the transparency of the glass or transparent chips, or both of them for all windows except for the windshield (opposite the driver), which must be transparent and safe according to the Gulf standard specifications and it is prohibited to install reflective lights.”

Please work on holding accountable all shops that aim primarily at financial profit without observing the rules and regulations of the General Traffic Department.
