Central System Installation in SAP

You can install a central system on a single host. SAP recommends installing the ASCS instance because this enables you to cluster the message server and enqueue server separately from the central instance. However, you can also install your SAP system without the ASCS instance.

What is central system in SAP?
The central system is used to execute tasks on other systems within an ABAP landscape. As soon as a client of an ABAP system is defined as a central system, other systems can pass control to the central system so that different configuration tasks can be carried out in these managed systems from the central system.
