5 KD and 10 KD is Medicine Fee for Expats in Kuwait, Ministry of Health

According to the new decision from Ministry of Health, expatriates must pay a fee of 5 KD for dispensing medicines from the pharmacy of primary health care centres and 10 KD for hospital outpatient pharmacy.

This is in addition to the health consultation fees, which are KD 2 at primary health care centres and KD 10 at hospitals.

The decision will be implemented starting today, i.e., 18th December 2022, Sunday.

Within the framework of its efforts to improve the health care services in the country and to stop wasting medicines, the Ministry of Health issued a decision to collect fees for dispensing medicines from expatriate patients.

#Kuwait Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi issued a decision to collect fees from expats in exchange for medicine at public health facilities as follows: #KD 5 at polyclinics and hospitals and #KD 10 at outpatient clinics starting from today, This is in addition to the health consultation fees, which are #KD 2 at primary health care centres and #KD 10 at hospitals
Kuwait has decided to impose new fees for health services on expatriates, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported on Sunday.
The fees has been decided by the Health Ministry on expatriates benefitting from services offered by medical centres, emergency hospitals and outpatient clinics, added Al Rai, citing health sources.
“As part of reform steps being implemented, the ministry intends to impose special fees on dispensing medicines to #expatriate patients, in addition to the regular fees,” the sources added without giving specific figures.
There was no immediate comment from the ministry.
Foreigners make up nearly 3.4 million of Kuwait’s overall population of around 4.6 million. In recent years, Kuwaiti authorities have sought to redress demographic imbalance in the country.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health issued a ministerial decision on Sunday to collect fees for the dispensing of medicines from non-Kuwaiti patients registered in the health insurance system.

In a press release, the Ministry said that the decision aims to improve health care services, stop the waste of medicines, and control their dispensing.

She added that the decision set these fees to be the case of dispensing medicines from a pharmacy in a primary health care center ( dispensaries ) with a value of 5 dinars and if they are discharged from the hospital accident pharmacy with a value of 5 dinars and 10 dinars When dispensing medicines from the outpatient pharmacy.

She explained that the drug fees will be in addition to the health counseling fees, which are set at the value of two dinars when reviewing the clinic of the primary health care centers ( dispensaries ) and 10 dinars when reviewing hospital or outpatient accidents.

She stated that the decision includes the continuation of ministerial decisions regarding exemption for some categories of health services fees, provided that the decision is implemented from the date of Sunday, December 18, 2022.
