Kuwait City, 18th February 2021: Kuwait expanding hiring of Domestic workers, iiQ8 Kuwait - Talks with Ethiopia, SriLanka to recruit domestic workers to ease shortages The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry has sent a draft memorandum of understanding (MOU) to the Ethiopian labour authorities to clear the way for recruitment of domestic workers from the African country to ease a shortage in domestic helpers in Kuwait, a unionist has disclosed. Chairman of Kuwait’s Union for Domestic Labour Khalid Al Dakhnan said the MOU was dispatched five days ago to Addis Ababa for revision and potential observations. and stop limiting them to two or three countries,” he said. “Allowing the recruitment of the Ethiopian labour will strike a market balance and solve more than 70 per cent of the current shortage in domestic labour,” Al Dakhnan added. Kuwait City, 18th February 2021: Kuwait 43 hotels picked for mandatory quarantine, iiQ8 From February 21, all arrivals in country will have to undergo 7-day hotel quarantine Forty-three hotels will be engaged in mandatory institutional quarantine that Kuwait is due to apply to all arrivals in the country beginning next Sunday to curb the spread of COVID-19, a local newspaper reported on 17th February, Wednesday. Starting from February 21, authorities will enforce mandatory seven-day hotel quarantine to all travellers – citizens and foreigners - arriving in Kuwait at their expense. All passengers must book their hotel stay via the Kuwait Mosafer app prior to their arrival in the country. Upon the end of the institutional quarantine period, passengers will have to undergo domestic quarantine for seven more days. Saleh Al-Fadaghi, issued a circular to airlines operating at Kuwait International Airport, charging airlines the cost of checking the "pcr" for all passengers coming to Kuwait through the "Kuwait-Traveler" platform. The circular, which was obtained by Al-Anbaa, stated that these decisions came in implementation of Cabinet decisions to impose institutional quarantine on all passengers coming to Kuwait for a period of 7 days, starting from the current date of February 21.
