Kuwait City, 23rd July 2022: Monkeypox declared a global health emergency by WHO More than 16,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported in 74 countries since May The World Health Organisation has said that monkeypox outbreak in more than 70 countries is now a global emergency. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the decision to issue the declaration despite a lack of consensus among members of WHO's emergency committee. It was the first time the chief of the UN health agency has taken such an action. "In short, we have an outbreak that has spread around the world rapidly through new modes of transmission about which we understand too little and which meets the criteria in the international health regulations," Tedros said. In a press statement, the ministry said the pilgrims can take the tests at the government-run Jaber Bridge Center every day from 05:00 PM to 10:00 PM and the Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital from 08:00 AM to 12 PM or at any of the private medical laboratories. It advised the pilgrims to check the test result at the ministry’s Immune app and ask for help if they felt ill during the first ten days of their return. Kuwait city, 18th June 2022: #Canada confirms 168 cases of monkeypox The B.C. Centre for Disease control confirmed the province’s second case on Friday. Like the initial case, confirmed on June 6, the second case was also detected in the Vancouver Coastal Health region. The cases are related to travel and not connected to each other. Federal officials say there are now 168 confirmed cases of monkeypox in Canada. The Public Health Agency of Canada says the vast majority of those cases — 141 — have been reported in Quebec. There are also 21 in Ontario and four in Alberta as of Friday. Canada’s chief public health officer says all infections have been in men aged 20 to 69.
