The Embassy of Germany in Kuwait known as Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kuwait is Germany’s diplomatic mission to the State of Kuwait. Unlike many embassies in villas or compounds, it occupies a high floor of Al Hamra Tower in Sharq, in the centre of Kuwait City, and its visa and consular section works from a separate office in Salmiya. The German Federal Foreign Office publishes the embassy’s contact details on its own website.

About the embassy
The embassy represents Germany in Kuwait and deals with political, economic and cultural relations, as well as consular and visa matters. Its official page, run by the German Federal Foreign Office, lists a general number, a separate visa line, and a request that written enquiries use the contact form on the website instead of the fax. The practical question for most people is which of the embassy’s two locations they need.

Embassy & Consular Details
The German Federal Foreign Office lists the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany at Al Hamra Tower, 40th floor, Al Shuhada Street, Sharq, Kuwait. The embassy’s general telephone availability is Sunday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM. (Auswärtiges Amt)
The Visa & Consular Section is located separately at Salem Al Mubarak Street, Symphony Tower 2, Block 2, 7th Floor, Salmiya. The official page currently gives +965 96 05 40 84 for visa/consular telephone enquiries, available Sunday–Thursday from 8:00 AM–11:00 AM. (Auswärtiges Amt)
The German Foreign Office also lists +965 99 04 86 60 as the emergency duty number for urgent consular emergencies involving German citizens outside normal office hours. (Auswärtiges Amt)
Address and location
There are two addresses, and they serve different purposes. The embassy itself is on the 40th floor of Al Hamra Tower on Al Shuhada Street in Sharq, postal code 13009. The Visa and Consular Section is at Symphony Tower 2, Salem Al Mubarak Street, Block 2, 7th floor, in Salmiya, according to the embassy’s own page. Some older directories show the embassy in Abdullah Al-Salem, Area 1, on a branch of Nusf Al-Yousef Street, which was a previous location, so do not use those details. The French embassy’s official page also lists the 40th floor of Al Hamra Tower.

Contact information
The embassy’s page gives the main telephone number as +965 2205 8955, answered Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. For visa questions it gives +965 9605 4084, answered Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and it says written enquiries should go through its online contact form. The fax number is +965 2205 8966. Some directories also list a second consular number, +965 2577 0557, and an email address, but the official page directs people to the contact form, so we have not published an email address.
Opening hours
The embassy’s page gives telephone hours of 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM for the main line and 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM for the visa line, Sunday to Thursday. Several directories give shorter or different counter hours, for example 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, so treat the published telephone hours as the reliable figure, and confirm the hours for in-person visits when you book. The page we read is older than most, so check the website for changes. Friday and Saturday are not working days, and German and Kuwaiti public holidays may apply.
Services
Directory listings describe the embassy as handling visas, passports, notarial services and emergency consular assistance, and the embassy’s website carries a visa section and a contact page. We could not confirm from the website which services are offered at which office, or the fees. The visa section is the one with a dedicated telephone line and its own office, so the Salmiya address is the one to confirm for a visa application.

Visa information
The embassy’s website has a visa section with a page of frequently asked questions. Germany is part of the Schengen area, and the rules, forms and fees are set by the German authorities, so this listing does not repeat them. Use the embassy’s website for current requirements, book through the channels it names, and be careful with third-party sites that charge extra for appointments.
Before you visit
- Decide whether you need the embassy in Al Hamra Tower or the visa and consular section in Salmiya.
- Ask whether you need an appointment, using the telephone numbers or the website’s contact form.
- Bring your original passport, your Kuwait civil ID if you live in Kuwait, and any documents the embassy asks for.
How to find the embassy
