Kuwait Government targets to appoint 10,000 citizens in private sector December 18, 2019 Government is targeting to appoint 10,000 number of citizens for appointment in the private sector during the next two years. A decision in this regard will be issued at the start of the new year, Finance Minister and Acting State Minister for Economic Affairs Mariam Al-Aqeel said. The manpower authority’s vision towards increasing the percentage of citizens employed in the private sector is according to law 19/2000, whose article 9 authorized the Council of Ministers to decide such percentages and commit non-government entities to comply with them, she added. Employees can en-cash 180 days leave during service Minister of Finance, Dr Nayef al-Hajraf will soon issue a decision that will allow the employees to encash 180 days of annual leave in accordance with the comprehensive salary. MP Khalil Al-Saleh in a statement to the Parliament media office said that he coordinated with the Minister of Finance and reached a positive agreement to amend the Civil Service Law to address this issue and give the employees the right to cash the leave. The current law provides a cash allowance for the employee’s leave only at the time of retirement, but the decision will allow the employees to benefit from it during service. This amendment is a victory for the rights of employees, by giving them the right to exchange their leave for cash allowance without the need to wait for retirement, but with certain conditions, as it reduces the burden on citizens.

The new fees are for services offered by the medical council to expats, including KD 20 for medical examination for those applying to work in the public and private sectors; KD 5 for medical examination for those seeking disability aid and age estimation; KD 10 for “medically unfit”, “to whom it may concern” and proportion of disability due to injury certificates; and KD 5 to approve sick leaves issued by non-government doctors inside or outside Kuwait. No dependent Visa for children above 12 Years Children above 12 year are not eligible to get dependent visa, reported local Arabic daily Al-Jarida. According to Al-Jarida newspaper, the new regulation stipulates that an expatriate children of above 12 years of age are not eligible to get a dependent visa. The Arabic paper also reported that the residence permits of children under dependent visa (son) will not be eligible for renewal once the son is crossed 18 years of age unless they produce proof of that they are registered at one of the local universities.
