About NBK
NBK describes itself on its network page as headquartered in Kuwait City, with its services organised under NBK, NBK Wealth and an international network. The bank dates from 1952 and is generally described as Kuwait’s oldest national bank. The Central Bank of Kuwait lists it first among the country’s five conventional Kuwaiti banks, and NBK’s own website claims the largest network of ATMs and cash-deposit machines in Kuwait.
NBK also runs a wealth business. NBK Wealth’s website says the name is a brand registered by National Bank of Kuwait for its asset-management business, which is run through Watani Investment Company and other group entities, combined with NBK’s private-banking services. The Central Bank of Kuwait gives NBK’s address as Sharq, Al-Shuhada Street, Block 7, Building 1A, National Bank of Kuwait Building. NBK’s own pages place its headquarters at Block 7, Plot 6, Sharq, at the corner of Jaber Al-Mubarak and Al-Shuhada streets, and refer to the 34th and 35th floors of the NBK tower for its wealth and complaints units.
Sharq is the central business district of Kuwait City, and several other banks, towers and embassies are on the same streets. Note the two postal addresses: the regulator lists P.O. The bank’s website says the number can be dialled within Kuwait and gives a separate number for callers outside the country. The head office numbers on the Central Bank’s list and on NBK’s network page differ, which is normal for a bank with a main switchboard and a separate headquarters line.

We found no single timetable on NBK’s pages that applies to every branch. The hours above, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM from Sunday to Thursday, are those given for ordinary branches in an older branch listing and match the standard banking day in Kuwait. Some branches in towers and malls keep split hours, for example about 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM from Sunday to Wednesday, and shorter hours on Thursday.
NBK has also announced that selected branches, such as those at Kuwait International Airport T4, The Avenues and some outlet malls, remain open during public holidays, and that some locations, including the airport and public-sector branches, have at times been temporarily closed until further notice. These Ramadan hours were announced for Ramadan 2026 by the Secretary-General of the Kuwait Banking Association, following a circular from the Central Bank of Kuwait. She said hours may vary slightly from one bank to another, depending on each bank’s arrangements, iftar and fasting times and mall opening hours. The timetable for the next Ramadan will be announced before the month begins, so check the bank’s website or social accounts, and treat these times as a guide until then.
Public holidays
Branches close on official public holidays, although ATMs, cash-deposit machines and digital banking stay available, and a few airport or mall branches may keep special hours. Announcements are normally made by the bank and the Kuwait Banking Association before each holiday, so check the bank’s website or social accounts before you go.
Banking services
NBK’s website describes personal, business and corporate banking, together with wealth and private banking through NBK Wealth. Its published ways to bank are online banking, mobile banking, branch banking, ATMs and cash-deposit machines, and the call centre.
NBK also offers a mobile branch service to individual customers, requested through WhatsApp on 1801801. The bank lists cash withdrawals from KD 1,000 up to KD 5,000, cash deposits from KD 1,000 up to KD 3,000 and debit-card issuance. How to reach the head office by bus
NBK’s head office is on Al-Shuhada Street in Sharq. KuwaitBusRoute’s route pages list Al Shuhada St. among the stops for Kuwait Bus 15 (Maliya to Salmiya), which also lists Sharq, Darwazah, Mubarak Al Kabeer St., Mazaya Tower and KBT Tower, and Kuwait Bus 12 (Sharq to Sulaibiya), which lists Ahmed Al Jaber Street, Mubarak Al Kabeer Street and Shuhada Street.
The CityBus Kuwait City Express loop lists Souq Al Kabeer, Sharq Police Station, Hamra Tower and Al Soor Tower, and Kuwait Bus 17 (Sharq to Salmiya) runs from Sharq via Sharq Police Station and Darwazah.
