The Embassy of China in Kuwait knows as Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kuwait is China’s diplomatic mission to the State of Kuwait. Most people who need a Chinese visa do not go to the embassy itself, because ordinary visa applications are handled by a separate visa application centre in Sharq. The embassy’s consular office deals with other matters. Its address changed in recent years, so many directories still show the old one.

About the embassy
The Chinese embassy publishes its consular notices in English on its website, including the notices on visa procedures that most visitors need. The embassy has authorised a China Visa Application Center in Kuwait City to receive applications, collect fees on its behalf and return passports, so that the consular office can concentrate on other work.
Address and location
The embassy’s consular notice of June 2025 gives its address as Plot 37, Block 7A, Mishref, Kuwait. Mishref is a residential district in Hawalli Governorate with a diplomatic zone that also contains the Japanese and Korean embassies. Many older directories show the embassy at No. 82, Street 1, Block 4, Yarmouk, with a +965 2533 3340 telephone number and an email address of the form chinaemb_kw@mfa.gov.cn. Those details date from before the move and should not be relied on. If you are unsure, check the embassy’s website.
Contact information
The June 2025 notice lists the consular telephone number as 00965 2225 3335, answered Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and the email address kuwait-city@csm.mfa.gov.cn. Visa questions that go through the application centre should be sent to the centre, at +965 2207 0012 or kuwaitcenter@visaforchina.org.
Opening hours
The same notice gives the consular office’s working hours as Sunday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. These are short hours, so go in the morning. The telephone line is open for longer, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The visa application centre has its own hours: an earlier notice and a travel directory give Sunday to Thursday, with applications received in the morning and passports collected in the afternoon, and the centre is closed on Friday, Saturday and public holidays.
Visa applications
The embassy’s notices explain a process in several steps:
- Ordinary-passport applicants fill in the application online and submit it at the China Visa Application Center in Kuwait.
- Since 29 June 2025 the centre has offered an online application service, with digital submission of documents, through its website visaforchina.cn.
- An appointment has not been required since 20 November 2023, according to the embassy’s notice.
- Holders of diplomatic and service passports, and people applying for visas to Hong Kong or Macao, apply directly at the consular office of the embassy.
The published requirements include an original passport valid for at least six months with blank pages, an application form, a photo and proof of legal residence in Kuwait for non-Kuwaitis. These rules were set out in a notice updated in November 2023, so check the embassy’s website for any change. Fees and processing times are not stated here.
Other consular services
The embassy’s notice says the consular office continues to handle notarisation, legalisation, Chinese passports and travel documents. Ask the consular office which documents you need and whether an appointment applies to your case.
Before you visit
- Decide whether you need the embassy or the visa application centre. Most ordinary visa applicants go to the centre.
- Go to the embassy in the morning, because the consular office closes at 11:30 AM.
- Check the address, because older listings show the former Yarmouk premises.
- Bring your original passport and the documents listed for your service.
