Kuwait Unveils New Electronic Visa System to Boost Tourism – The Ministry of Interior affirmed on Wednesday its commitment to facilitating the procedures for granting various types of entry visas to #Kuwait, noting that the new electronic visa system enhances the country’s position as an attractive tourist destination.
This came in a presentation by Colonel Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Director of the Electronic Services Department at the General Department of Residency Affairs, at the Government Communication Center under the title “Kuwait Visa Platform… New Entry Visas,” in which he reviewed the new system via the “Kuwait Visa” platform and the key amendments.
Colonel Al-Kandari began his presentation with a detailed explanation of the new entry visas and the lists of approved countries and professions, explaining that each visa type has specific regulations and requirements. Among the most important conditions for obtaining a tourist visa are that the applicant must not have any security restrictions or prohibitions, must pay the required fees, and must attach the necessary documents.
He pointed out that the tourist visa is divided into four main categories:
1. First category:
Approved countries eligible for a tourist visa without restrictions, totaling 52 countries, with the requirement of a passport valid for more than six months from the date of entry.
2. Second category:
Holders of financially capable professions residing in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as well as residents of the United States, the United Kingdom, and European Union (Schengen) countries. This category also requires a passport valid for more than six months from the date of entry, along with proof of valid GCC residency showing the expiry date and profession, both valid for more than six months from entry.
3. Third category (not yet implemented, still under development):
Covers the rest of the world’s countries whose applicants can prove financial capability by means determined by the department. Requirements include a passport valid for more than six months from entry, proof of financial solvency through a recent bank statement, confirmed hotel booking for the entire stay, and a security deposit taken from the visitor’s credit card (Visa or MasterCard) at the time of payment for the visa. This deposit is forfeited in case of violation and refunded upon departure.
4. Fourth category:
For international and local events, with requirements set according to the specific event or activity at the time.
Tourist visit visas to Kuwait are available in two types: single-entry (for one, two, or three months, with a validity of 30 days) and multiple-entry (valid for three months, six months, or one year, with a stay not exceeding 30 days per entry).
Al-Kandari also reviewed the amendments to family visit visas, stating that the main conditions include providing proof of kinship in Arabic or translated into Arabic by a certified translation office, such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate, with the relationship extending up to the fourth degree of kinship and the third degree by marriage.
Family visit visas also come in two types: single-entry (for one, two, or three months, with a validity of 30 days) and multiple-entry (valid for three months, six months, or one year, with a stay not exceeding 30 days per entry).
