Kuwait City, 8th December 2020: First Kuwait National Assembly Opening on 15th December, iiQ8 Opening session of Kuwait parliament on December 15 Elections resulted in a 60% change in parliament, as many MPs lost in their seats On Sunday, the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah, issued an Emiri decree calling for the first session of the 16th legislative term of the National Assembly (parliament) to be on December 15. The newly elected parliament will commence 10 days after the elections, in accordance with article 87 of the Kuwaiti constitution, which stipulated that parliament should hold its first session within two weeks of the end of the general election. The incoming legislature looks very different from the previous term, as the elections resulted in a 60 per cent change in MPs and an all-male parliament (compared to the previous parliament, where there was one female MP, the controversial Safa Al Hashem). Kuwait City, 8th December 2020: All set for return of domestic workers from 14th December, iiQ8, Returning to Kuwait The electronic platform “in safety” began work on Monday to officially organize procedures for the return of domestic workers to Kuwait, reports Al-Anba daily. Official sources said the National Aviation Services Company (NAS) is all set to start working the platform at 3:00pm on Monday, as the first flight returning domestic workers from India will be launched on the 14th of this month. They mentioned that the platform is smooth in dealing with five steps, through which the sponsor registers the name of the work, civil ID number, and determines the day and country from which the domestic worker is coming, then pays the fees. The same sources said the Council of Ministers has set a fee of 270 dinars, but the airfare varies from one country to another, as it is 110 dinars from India, 145 dinars from Sri Lanka Bangladesh and Nepal, and 220 dinars from …

Kuwait City, 6th December 2020: Kuwait election results: Big changes, all-male new parliament No women win seats; many new faces; voter turnout of 60% higher than expected The election for Kuwait’s National Assembly (parliament) resulted in an all-male parliament and several previous MP losing their seats, signalling a change in direction. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, voter turnout was higher than expected, at 60 per cent. While strict health guidelines were put in place, voters complained of long lines and crowded polling stations. This is the first time that Kuwait has held parliamentary elections since 2016, excluding the 2019 by-elections that took place in only two districts to replace two MPs who were removed from office. COLLECTION OF TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

Embassy of India in Kuwait has been issuing Travel Documents including Emergency Certificates (EC) for those registered with the Embassy and have submitted their completed application forms. The Embassy is regularly contacting them through telephone calls, whatsapp messages and emails to distribute their printed travel documents. Those who are prepared to avail the concessions offered by the Government of State of Kuwait though its notification of November 24 and who do not possess valid travel documents, may contact the Embassy urgently and apply for ECs at the special EC counter at the Embassy.
