India Kuwait to sign MOU on labour this Wednesday

A Memorandum of Understanding on the recruitment of Indian domestic workers to Kuwait is expected to be signed this Wednesday during the visit of External Affairs Minister Smt Sushma Swaraj to Kuwait. The MoU between India and Kuwait for domestic workers recruitment was discussed during the previous joint working committee meeting between India and Kuwait last April 2018. 

Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh was in New Delhi last week to finalise the talks on this matter. 

India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will arrive in Kuwait on Tuesday on a two-day official visit. She will reach Kuwait after paying a two-day visit to Qatar. New PACI branch in Fahaheel, Kuwait to serve citizens and residents in Ahmadi Area

The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) Sunday opened a new branch in Fahaheel Cooperative Society to serve over one million citizens and residents in Al-Ahmadi governorate.

The new branch would lessen the pressure on the main headquarters in Hawalli governorate, which serves 49 areas, Director General of Kuwait's PACI Musaed Al-Asousi said in a statement.

The new branch came after the successful opening of a similar one in Al-Jahra governorate, noted Al-Asousi, adding that the Ministry of Public Works would supervise the construction of the new facility.

Indian External Affairs Minister Ms Sushma Swaraj to visit Qatar, Kuwait

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will visit Qatar and Kuwait, two of India's key energy security partners in West Asia, from October 28 to 31, it was announced on Friday.According to the External Affairs Ministry, during her visit to Qatar on October 28-29, Sushma Swaraj will meet Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. Kuwait International Airport – INDIAN HELD WITH ‘PAAN’ betel leaves

An Indian passenger was arrested at Kuwait International Airport in possession of 250 grams of betel leaves (paan).

According to sources, customs officers were checking the luggage of passengers who arrived at the airport from an Asian country when they found the betel leaves inside the luggage of an Indian expatriate. When they questioned him, he said it was intended for personal use.

He was arrested and referred him to the Drugs Control General Department for necessary legal action.

Central Bank of Kuwait – Urge to re-consider debtors from presenting invoices for loan taken

Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) is studying a proposal to reorganize procedures for securing loans to exempt debtors from presenting invoices to prove the purpose for which the loans were taken, local daily Arab Times reported citing Al-Rai Arabic newspaper. According to report, sources pointed at two scenarios; the first suggests exempting debtors who receive loans up to KD 7,500 from presenting bills, and the second scenario includes those taking up to KD 5,000.Report added that the decision that obliges debtors to provide invoices to prove they truly spent the loan for the same purpose they obtained, needs re-evaluation by the Central Bank of Kuwait and other local banks. Many debtors could not provide the required invoices, not because they violated relevant laws but it was difficult for them to do so, especially those who obtained small loans to purchase more than a single commodity, report added. Rebuilding Kerala- NRIs from Kuwait offered 11 crore rupees in a single day

The meeting of community members and business leaders called by the Non Resident Keralite Affairs (NORKA) Director Dr Ravi Pillai in Kuwait promised over 11 crores rupee in a single day for the rebuilding of Kerala.

Kannur – Kerala’s 4th international airport to open on December 9

Kerala's fourth international airport at Kannur is slated to open on December 9 following an approval by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a top official said here on Friday.

Kannur International Airport Ltd (KIAL) Managing Director, V. Thulasidas confirmed the launched date, saying that "we are ready for operations".

KIAL authorities are trying their best to see that commercial operations commence soon after the inauguration, but the Airport Authority of India will be deciding on that.

Already 11 international carriers and six domestic operators have confirmed their decision to fly into KIAL.

The first trial operations were undertaken successfully at the aiport on September 20 and a repeat rehearsal the following day.

On Thursday, DGCA gave its final approval for the airport's opening.
